The Gateway to the Pineries. The City of Wonderful Water. Stevens Point, Wisconsin is known by many names, and it is known throughout the state as an idyllic community great for raising a family or taking a vacation.

Stevens Point was originally founded in the middle of the 19th century after a treaty was made between the European settlers and the Menominee natives. The town takes its name from George Stevens, a local business owner who sold groceries and goods to lumberjacks. The grocery and shipping business flourished, attracting more homes and businesses along the Wisconsin River for years to come.

Stevens Point has come a long way since its establishment as a woodsy, wilderness, trading post over 150 years ago, with impressive cityscapes, exceptional universities, summertime celebrations and festivals, unique buildings, exciting riverfront, and an airport. Interstate 39 ensures that you can find the city of Stevens Point with ease, and quickly make your way to Milwaukee or Madison, two of the most populated and exciting places in the state.

The Great Outdoors

When you book an RV in Stevens Point, you can check out some local outdoor recreation spots or state parks. Rib Mountain State Park, home to Rib Mountain, is an excellent place to start your trip. The park is home to beautiful woods, with 15 miles of nature trails weaving throughout its shaded groves. In addition to an amphitheater that holds concerts and events, there is a ski resort on Rib Mountain that is extremely exciting.

Hartman Creek State Park is south of Stevens Points, and a great reason to rev up your Stevens Point motorhome and hit the road. The park is home to several small ponds and lakes that are ideal for swimming, fishing, and kayaking. The nationally recognized Ice Age Trail runs for 1,200 miles through Wisconsin, including a small stretch that runs directly through Hartman Creek State Park.

Buckhorn State Park can be found on the shores of Castle Rock Lake and is a delightful place for swimming, boating, kayaking, fishing, and hiking. You can read a book on the sandy beaches surrounding the lake, or make s’mores around a campfire while staying the night in your Stevens Point RV rental by owner.

If you are hoping to see the more remote parts of the Midwest, you can journey north with your Stevens Point camper rental and take a boat over to Isle Royale National Park. Although the park is part of Michigan, it is much closer to Wisconsin in the massive Lake Superior, one of the largest freshwater lakes on the planet. This stunning island is the largest in Lake Superior, and minutes from the Canadian international border. You can camp and hike on the remote island up in the wilderness, but there is no RV access.

RV Parks
