Nestled in the Kettle Moraine State Forest, Elkhart Lake is a popular spot for anyone embarking on a road trip through Wisconsin’s east coast. Located just off Highway 67, Elkhart Lake is easily reached from Sheboygan and Fond du Lac.

In the early 19th century, Elkhart Lake was a relatively undeveloped area, surrounded by farmland and small villages. When the railroad arrived in 1872, it did not take long until the lake became known as one of the best resort towns in the east, alive with theatrical performances and midnight gambling. With this newfound popularity, numerous resorts and lakeside properties began to spring up along Elkhart Lake’s picturesque shoreline.

Elkhart Lake is still a lakeside holiday town, with many of the original resorts still operating. Even though much of the gambling and flamboyant festivities have been left behind, many still choose to book an RV in Sheboygan County to get out and about in the great outdoors.
