Although it is located in a seemingly remote area, Highway 46 runs directly past the lake and connects it to the nearby towns of Luck and Milltown where travelers can pick up any forgotten supplies!
The Chippewa Tribe were the first to inhabit this area after recognizing its scenic landscapes and fruitful properties. They described the region as ‘innenehinduc’ which loosely translates as ‘Place of the Evergreens,' and it is not hard to guess why; surrounded by beautiful woodlands on all sides, Balsam Lake enjoys a backdrop of luscious greenery almost all-year-round.

Reaching depths of 37ft, those who venture further out into the lake’s deeper waters will be rewarded with trophy-sized catches to take home for dinner!
