You can take a gentle hike around Lake Meridian on the 2.2-mile Bosque Hiking Trail and listen for the call of these rare birds.

For little pre-historic history, turn your steering wheel north to Dinosaur Valley State Park and search for legendary footprints in the bed of the Paluxy River. The park is set amid limestone hills alongside a tributary of Brazos River and hosts an interesting variety of wildlife as well as plant species. Walking through the upper regions of the park, you can find a mixture of Texas red oak and live oak divided by shrubs and grassland. In the lower regions, Texas sugarberry, American elm, and green ash are just some of the many species you can find.
