Just outside of town you can find plenty of things to do outdoors, with the Colorado River Barely twenty miles to the west, and a variety of other national wilderness preserves. Enjoying the outdoors is an intrinsic part of daily life in this part of Texas, and Pflugerville has plenty of outdoor barbecues, sports fields, and lakes and rivers to enjoy. There’s plenty of green space within the city, with 500 acres of parks and 528 acres of open green space within the city limits. Several of these parks have natural features like streams and lakes, or other amenities such as pools or gazebos. Lake Pflugerville, which also the city’s reservoir, is also open for fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating. The extensive and impressive Pfluger Park is home to a war memorial, playground, big trees, a forest grove, and also hosts the annual German festival, the Deutschen Pfest, in honor of the city’s founders.
