Manor is a city in Travis County, Texas, and a suburb of Austin. It is a fast-growing suburb, established in 1872 and growing continuously since then (it declined slightly during the Great Depression but bounced back). Its first post office, Grassdale, was opened in 1859 but closed in 1860. A second post office, Gregg, opened in 1871 but was renamed after James Manor, the first postmaster, the following year. Manor's early economy relied on agriculture, specifically cotton, cottonseed, and grain, and it has served as a hub for local farmers delivering their livestock and dairy products to market. Today, Manor is known for its commitment to urban parks and outdoor recreation, having many developed parks within its city limits. It was also a filming location for the movie What's Eating Gilbert Grape, whose central character always tried to climb Manor's water tower. The tower is now retired but is a central community landmark.

Search for an RV in Travis County and you can choose from a multitude of comfortable and reliable vehicles that will guarantee a perfect vacation. There are other communities nearby that are interesting and worth exploring. Georgetown is home to a retirement-oriented, age-restricted community that makes up one-third of the city's population. Rockdale is or was home to a number of celebrities, including numerous professional athletes, NASA astronaut Kenneth Cockrell, and Blues guitarist Pee Wee Crayton. Giddings' city motto is “Experience Hometown Hospitality”. San Marcos has Texas State University and the Forensic Anthropology Center at Texas State, one of the largest forensic research facilities in the world. Johnson City was named after an uncle of former president Lyndon Johnson, who donated a parcel of land for the town's creation in 1879. Your Manor RV rental is the perfect vehicle to take in all of this history and the environment where it happened.
