The Great Outdoors

To really make the most of your Magnolia motorhome rental, get behind the wheel and delve deep into the Texan backcountry. There are plenty of nearby state parks to visit offering camping, tours, fishing, and hiking.

Magnolia is within an hour’s drive of three local state parks, making it the ideal starting point for your Texas adventure. Stephen F. Austin State Park is located 50 miles southwest on the Brazos River. It’s an excellent place to go hiking, fishing or biking and there’s RV overnight camping available, with a store for stocking up on supplies.

Head north for about an hour in the Magnolia camper rental and you’ll arrive at Huntsville State Park, near Huntsville. Part of the Sam Houston National Forest, Huntsville is a great place to relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the East Texas Pineywoods. With over 20 miles of trails to be explored, the park also offers nature studies, camping, hiking, biking, swimming, paddling, fishing and canoeing on the 210-acre Lake Raven. Fishing equipment can be borrowed for use within the park and you can rent paddle boats, kayaks and canoes. There’s also a boat ramp, fishing piers and fish cleaning stations. With over 150 campsites and a grocery store selling camping and fishing supplies, you’ll have everything you need right on site for a perfect getaway.

An hour’s drive east in your Magnolia rental camper brings you to the Sheldon Lake State Park and its Environmental Learning Center. The park is open daily and includes a self-guided nature trail that winds around 28 naturalized ponds containing local wildlife including alligators. Environmentally friendly building techniques and alternative energies are showcased at the pond center. The 82-foot John Jacob Observation Tower provides unparalleled views of the park’s lake and surrounding wetlands. The park is near to the San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site and the Battleship Texas State Historic Site, which are both well worth a detour.

Slightly farther out is Lake Livingston State Park, which is one of largest lakes in Texas, noted for its population of white bass. There are two fish cleaning stations, bank fishing, three boat ramps and a pier. You can stock up on snacks or fishing supplies in the park store, and there’s overnight RV camping available with full hookups.  

RV Parks

Magnolia is a popular place for RVing and you’ll have plenty of RV parks to choose from to set up camp with the Magnolia travel trailer rental. Magnolia Forest RV Park offers full hook-up sites, and is situated just two miles from downtown Magnolia. WiFi is available throughout the campground and big rigs can be accommodated. Exploring the City

This authentic market offers dozens of local produce vendors who sell a diverse range of high-quality products including eggs, meat, farm produce, artisan items, decorations, handcrafted items and more.

If eating out is more your thing, Magnolia has plenty of great eateries providing a variety of cuisines, including Mexican, Italian, British pub food, Texan BBQ, and much more. From cheap and cheerful to formal, you’ll have plenty of choice both in terms of setting and cuisine.

Every October and November, Magnolia welcomes thousands of visitors at its Texas Renaissance Festival. Events take place every weekend over the two-month span and it is the area’s biggest festival of its kind.

For relaxing in the town, spend a couple of hours strolling downtown or visit the historic Magnolia Depot Plaza for a tour of the city’s history. Make a trip to local brewery to try out a selection of craft beers after touring the brewery. There’s often live music with weekend bands and food trucks, providing a great way to get a feel for the relaxed way of life. If beer’s not your thing, you could try out the local wine-tasting room, which serves great comfort food and snacks alongside high-quality wines.

Magnolia also has plenty of great shopping, especially for those interested in antiques. If you prefer to stay active, take a jog around Unity Park track or tee off at one of the golf courses. Magnolia is also a popular place with cyclists, boasting five cycling routes. Or sit back and relax at one of the local ponds and try your luck fishing.
