The 1843 treaty between the Republic of Texas and the local Native American tribes allowed the Kennedale settlers to establish ranches and farms in the area in relative peace. A quiet town located on the outskirts of Ft. Worth, Kennedale’s main appeal is its central proximity to a number of recreational activities in Ft. Worth and its surrounding areas, like Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington, which is about 15 miles away.

Fort Worth is the largest town, and about 10 miles to the northeast. Dallas, Ft. Worth’s “sister city” is a little over 30 miles to the east. With the proximity of all these amazing cities, you will have a vast amount of activities to choose from.

Discover Kennedale

The Great Outdoor

When you rent an RV in Kennedale, you’ll likely want to explore recreational activities in one of the remaining areas of wilderness in the area. Although true wilderness is fast disappearing from the Dallas-Ft. Worth Metro area, there are still some remaining pockets.

Lake Arlington, minutes away, is a small lake with plenty of recreational water fun opportunities. In addition to paddling trails for kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes, The Bass Classic, a popular annual tournament for anglers, takes place annually. Fishing is plentiful, needless to say. Fishermen can expect to see Florida largemouth, white and hybrid striped bass, white crappie, and channel and flathead catfish. Pontoon boat rentals are available if you want to take a spin on the water.

Drive your motorhome rental from Kennedale to nearby Cedar Hill State Park. Though a small park, there’s plenty of things to see and do here. Cedar Hill hugs the coast of the Joe Pool Lake, a popular fishing destination. Fishermen can catch largemouth black bass, crappie, and catfish from either the banks or out on a boat. Other people come for birdwatching, so don't forget those binoculars. Over 500 species of birds make their home in this park. Nearby Cedar Hill Preserve is a birdwatching park rife with avian wildlife like yellow-crowned night heron, egrets, hawks, eagles, and if you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of an espy, a rare Black-Capped Vireo. There are also several miles of hiking and biking trails.

RV Parks

When you rent an RV in Kennedale, you’ll need someplace to park it for a few days. Treetops RV Resort is shaded by mature oak trees, and the spacious park features full hookups for your RV, two laundry facilities and bathhouses, and a pool. It also offers military discounts.

Lakeview RV Park, situated on Lake Arlington, has lakeside views, laundry facility (no bathhouse, however), and many lots have mature trees for shade, which is a plus in those hot Texan summers. It’s also pet-friendly, though there are weight restrictions.

On occasion, you may find a need to make an unplanned stop overnight. There are several Walmart stores within a 10-mile radius. There is also a Walmart store close to Kennedale, just off Interstate Highway 20. Please check with the manager for permission before parking at any of the locations.

Exploring the City

Although Kennedale is a small suburban town, there’s plenty of places to visit in the area with your RV rental.

Texas loves its golf courses, and the city of Kennedale is no exception. Golf Driving Range of Texas, a hidden gem in Ft. Worth area is a family-run business that has been open for decades. Tierra Verde Golf Club is the first golf course and facility in the world to receive Audubon’s Signature Sanctuary certification. Consistently ranked in the Top 100 Golf Courses in Texas, this facility features both 9 and 18 courses and a driving range.

Hungry for a pulse-pounding adventure? Both Six Flags over Texas and Hurricane Harbor are conveniently close by, and they’re both popular destinations for both locals and vacationers. Choose from a range of rides from thrilling rides to gentler options for young children. Remember that Hurricane Harbor is a water park; dress accordingly! Don't forget to check the hours of operation before you venture over. The RV parking lot is able to accommodate RVs, but space can be limited, particularly on summer weekends.

For the artists in your group, Head into Ft. Worth’s Art and Museum district. There are dozens of options to choose from, including Modern Art Museum, Amon Carter Museum, and Ft. Worth Museum of Science and History. Check out the Cowgirl Museum, as well. It celebrates women, both in history and today, who exemplifies the courageous American West spirit.

Wrap up a long day of sightseeing and adventure by visiting one of the local BBQ grills. Decide which you prefer: wet or dry rub, and be prepared to defend your opinion! Visit Arlington, and explore the casual BBQ options available
