Established in 1839, Dodd City, Texas is a little more than an hour's drive outside of Dallas and Fort Worth. This small town may not look like much on a map, but it has a great deal of character. It’s an excellent place to rent an RV. When you book an RV in Dodd City, you will be able to drive just a little distance and be at any number of beautiful lakes offering great recreational activities.

You’ll also be a stone’s throw away from Caddo National Grassland, which can be a fantastic destination if you love relaxing outside in the gorgeous weather Texas has to offer. If you want to explore a more massive expanse of nature, you can head south in that luxury RV rental from Dodd City to visit Davy Crockett National Forest near Lufkin. Nearby to that is Angelina National Forest, also near Lufkin. You can also choose to head northeast, into Arkansas to visit Ouachita National Forest near Hot Springs.

Even though Dodd City is small, it has a great big heart. It’s also close enough to several other somewhat larger towns that do offer plenty of opportunities to explore. One of those is over in Paris. You can stop by in the Dodd City motorhome rental and visit Paris Town Square. It is considered by residents to be an iconic place, especially stunning to visit at night. Under the lights, the fountains, architecture, and monuments are truly magnificent.

Bonham State Park is also nearby in Bonham. This pleasant little park was built during the Great Depression and is a fun place for families to check out. Dodd City, Texas may be small, but it is close enough to a number of other destinations you may want to check out. One of those is over in Paris, and it’s the Paris, Texas Eiffel Tower. This Texas city decided, based on its name, to build a replica of the more famous Eiffel Tower in France. You can check out this unique creation anytime you have a motorhome rental in Dodd City. Don’t forget to try and spot the almost four-foot-tall red Stetson cowboy hat placed on top to add a little local flair.

Sam Rayburn is considered by many to be one of the best-known statesmen in The Lone Star State. This politician was one of the most powerful and influential in the 20th century; he served 25 terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. The Sam Rayburn House Historic Site preserves the famous Texan's 1916 house and the grounds surrounding it. The site is immaculately maintained, and there is a museum with photos, trinkets, and mementos you can check out and enjoy during your visit.

Fannin County Museum of History is in Bonham and is another destination you may want to consider when you're exploring the area with an RV rental from Dodd City. The museum is housed within a 1900 railway depot, and the displays are interesting and informative, so you may end up spending an afternoon here.
