Dallas-Fort Worth might be one of the largest metropolitan areas in the United States, but here in north-central Texas, it doesn’t take too long to get outside the chaos and into the country. The town of Alvarado is only a half hour’s drive from the metro and feels every bit the rural paradise that you would expect from this part of northern Texas.

Alvarado is a small community and primarily subsisted as an agricultural town on the fringes of Dallas-Fort Worth for most of its history. Natural gas was discovered in the area and is intermittently extracted. When you rent an RV in Alvarado you’ll be greeted with vast rolling plains and wide-open skies, with some of the best sunsets you’ve ever seen.

Despite its proximity to the city, Alvarado doesn’t have many public transportation connections with Dallas or Fort Worth. You may need to drive your Alvarado RV rental into the city if you want to visit any of the attractions there.
