The Great Outdoors

There are nearly 10 state parks within roughly an hour of the city. Edwin/Percy Warner parks are 20 minutes out of downtown and have a few miles of hiking trails and a dog park. They are located a hop, skip, and a jump away from Radnor Lake State Park where visitors can see wildlife such as herons, owls, mink, and otters. You can sign up for ranger-led canoe floats, wildflower walks, or night hikes. Feel like getting out on the water? Bring a kayak (or rent one) and start paddling at Harpeth River State Park. Alternatively, Long Hunter State Park features a vast lake and boat rentals. Grab a fishing pole and kick back, looking out at the rolling hills and wooded banks. Stay overnight in your Nashville luxury RV rental at Montgomery Bell State Park, and choose your adventure: get your steps in and take a hike, chase an adrenaline high while biking through the forest, or go looking for birdies on the golf course.

Tennessee has national historic sites that were of monumental importance in the Civil War, and Stones River National Battlefield is a perfect day trip to take in your Nashville RV rental. And if you’re wanting to cross some national parks off your bucket list, you’re in luck! There are two within easy driving distance. The world’s longest known cave system is less than 100 miles to the north at Mammoth Cave National Park and you can take guided tours. RV campsites are available by reservation, and staking a claim in the Maple Springs Group Campground will set you right next to the 70+ miles of backcountry trails in the lush hills of southern Kentucky. For the RVers who want to venture out a bit farther, head east just past Knoxville until you hit the blue ridges of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The park has hundreds of miles of scenic driving routes you can take in your RV.

RV Parks

There are several places to camp with your RV rental in the Nashville, TN, area. RVers with a Good Sam Club membership get discounted camping at Two Rivers Campground, which offers free coffee and WiFi, groceries, a game room and pool, electric hookups, and bathhouses.  They also help you plan and book activities in downtown Nashville and have a shuttle service going into the city. Right next door, you have the Nashville KOA Resort, which offers similar amenities and includes a dog park. Both campgrounds are within the Nashville outer-belt. Outside of the city, there are quite a few quality options. The pet-friendly Grand Ole RV Resort and Market has a small-town feel and live music every night to keep you in the Music City spirit. There are plenty of picnic areas and even two fishing docks on site. Anderson Road Campground is located on a lake just east of Nashville and has nearly 40 campsites, a swimming beach, and a lakeside fitness trail. If you have young ones, Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort is a great option. There is a mini-golf course and they have daily activities (April through October) and special events throughout each month.

There are three Walmarts along the downtown perimeter where you can park your camper rental in Nashville to explore. The Walmart in Berry Hill (South Nashville) connects you to the 17 bus that runs every 30 minutes and will take you straight downtown. To the north of the city near Village by the Creek, the 23 bus will take you from the Walmart to the city center, running every 15 minutes. Within the city, the MTA system has a free Music City Circuit route that takes riders to classic destinations between The Gulch and Bicentennial Mall. For $5 you get a day pass that’s good for the rest of the MTA bus routes.

Exploring the City

Once you’re set up with the best RV rental in Nashville, you can easily get around to must-see locations for your trip. We suggest the Parthenon and its Athena statue, which are both full-scale replicas of originals from ancient Greece. Being a work of art itself, it is fitting that the Parthenon serves as Nashville’s art museum. The Grand Ole Opry has been a Nashville landmark for nearly a century, and virtually every big name in country music has played there. Take a backstage tour or head to a concert, and be sure to stroll through the paradise that is the Gaylord Opryland Resort while in the area. Get a feel for the local scene by venturing around Nashville’s iconic neighborhoods. 12 South is a vibrant, young neighborhood next to Belmont University with locally-owned restaurants and boutiques. Midtown mixes locals and tourists and is home to Music Row. Head over to East Nashville with its eclectic, laidback vibes, or pop down to The Gulch, a fast-growing area of new development. But no visit to Nashville is complete without a walk along Broadway in The District – it’s the center of Nashville nightlife and gets rowdy with cowboy boot-wearin’ and moonshine-drinkin’ people of all (legal) ages.

On your way out of town, be sure to drive your RV rental up to Love Circle to get the perfect shot of Nashville’s skyline to post on your Instagram.
