Topton is one of many boroughs in Berks County, Pennsylvania. The county was created in 1754, but it wasn't until 1876 that Topton Borough was created. Iron ore was discovered under the topsoil of Berks County, and mines began popping up everywhere; a railroad was built from Reading to Allentown, and a local judge suggested that the community at the highest elevation of the rail line be named Topton.

Search for an RV in Berks County, and you will be one step closer to a scenic and interesting vacation that many can only dream of. There are other communities near Topton that visitors should also explore. Lehighton prospered earlier on from a train repair facility and is still the business hub of Carbon County today, even though post-WWII restructuring led to a decline in jobs and population. Nazareth is one of many locations in the Lehigh Valley whose name is biblically inspired, such as Jordan Creek and Bethlehem. Coopersburg has been named after local judges twice, first when it was settled in 1730 and named Freyburg after Judge Joseph Frey and again when it was renamed in honor of Judge Peter Cooper. Pottstown has a long list of notable current and former residents, such as United Methodist Church founder Jacob Albright. Leesport has a listing on the National Register of Historic Places, Leesport Lock House, which was purchased by a local group of teachers and administrators in 1975 and then donated to Berks County for preservation. Your Topton travel trailer rental is how you will see this historic area in comfort and style.

The Great Outdoors

French Creek State Park is a multi-use refuge that has been recognized by the National Audubon Society and the Pennsylvania Game Commission for its creation of a habitat for many plant and animal species rare to this area. Visitors may enjoy hiking and biking along the many trails, go fishing, or camp overnight. Park staff members conduct guided walks of the park, explaining about the environment and its inhabitants and answering questions. The park is open year-round from sunrise to sunset and visitors have the option of using their Topton RV rental as a photography and wildlife viewing blind.

Middle Creek Wildlife Management is a popular destination for photographers and those who enjoy viewing the bird and animal life. There are hiking trails, and hunting and fishing are allowed with the proper licenses. An on-site educational facility has a wealth of information on the resident species and their habitat. The visitor center is open to the public from approximately early February to around Thanksgiving during business hours, has restrooms, and is handicap accessible.

Nockamixon State Park is a recreational and educational outdoor area that is open year-round to the public; some areas within the park are handicap accessible. The park is centered around Lake Nockamixon which is fed by several creeks and is a popular destination for boating and fishing. The park has a swimming pool and a disc golf course; other activities include hiking and biking the park trails, hunting, and picnicking. Guests can stay overnight in a cabin and fishing is allowed 24 hours a day, but other activities in the day use areas should finish at dusk (and start at sunrise). Park employees conduct a number of educational activities designed to help visitors understand and appreciate the environment.

Pine Hill RV Park is a developed RV campground with lots of tree cover and shade and large manicured lawns. It opens each year in April and has limited availability in the offseason (guests can call the park directly for more information about this). Individual sites can be rented by the day, week, or month, have full hookups and can accommodate motorhomes, travel trailers, and fifth wheels; most of the sites have pull-through access. Exploring The City

There is lots to see and do in the area surrounding Topton. For starters, there are numerous vineyards and wineries where guests can sample the product before possibly picking up a bottle to take with them. One tour company hosts a tasting tour of the Lehigh Valley, escorting guests to a number of different locations where they can sample as they please (and not have to worry about driving). Those with young kids in tow can check out some of the working farms that welcome guests to stop and have a look. The farm focuses on healthy and natural living and has some food items for guests to purchase. There are antique stores, outdoor ski and recreation areas, cultural centers, and more. Don't forget to take your Topton motorhome rental for a ride around the countryside; it's what RV vacations were designed for.

Those who prefer to eat at the restaurant will find a spacious room with sufficient tables for larger groups, and a lunchtime buffet or dinner salad bar. Portions for all dishes are large, so don't be embarrassed if you need to have your leftovers wrapped up to take back to your Topton luxury RV rental; food this good should never go to waste.
