Spring City is a small riverside borough, situated along the Schuylkill River on the border of Montgomery and Chester counties. On the northeast side of the Chester county line, and about 30 miles from Philadelphia, it’s worth a visit on your next motorhome rental trip around Spring City and the small surrounding towns.

Quiet with a close-knit community, Spring City is quaint and beautiful. Trees decorate the residential neighborhoods, and the city has character. Main Street is full of mom-and-pop shops and diners. The locals are friendly and relaxed. You’ll be sure to enjoy your stay when you visit Spring City in an RV rental.

The Great Outdoors

The Schuylkill River offers plenty of outdoor excursions. You can fish in the river, hike or mountain bike along the trail, or simply enjoy a few hours sitting outside. Spring City River Park is along the Schuylkill River Trail and has benches and tables for picnics. Brown Street Neighborhood Park has a playground and pool. In the borough right nearby, Royersford, there is the Riverfront Park or Lakeview Park for more strolling or picnicking. In the same town, Victory Park hosts outdoor concerts in the summer.

Upper Schuylkill Valley Park is a rehabilitation facility for hurt wildlife, but they also provide homes to domesticated wildlife such as wolves. You can also see bobcats, foxes, owls, and so much more at the Wildlife Center. There is also a butterfly garden and turtle pond to visit, as well as an indoor space that contains creatures like snakes and skunks. The river running through the park is also open to non-motorized boats and fishing.

For lovers of botany, visit Chanticleer Garden, a 48-acre botanical garden not far out of town, in Wayne. Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens in Devon is another option for more exotic flowers. For more strenuous hiking and biking, Norristown Farm Park in East Norriton offers 690 acres to explore. Natural Lands’ Binky Lee Preserve in Chester Springs also has hiking trails for you to use.

Discover Spring City

RV Parks

While Spring City has lots to offer travelers, it does not have any RV parks within its vicinity. Not to worry—you have plenty of options right nearby. Village Scene Mobile Home Park in Hatfield, while a permanent residency for the 55+ community, has an RV park with no age restrictions. There are hookups, laundry, and WiFi for your use, but not many extras for your Spring City luxury motorhome rental. If you’d like to head to the city for more entertainment, the Doylestown/Lansdale train station offers direct access to Philadelphia if you should chose to spend the day in the city.

Another option is the Lake in Wood RV Resort. On top of the usual amenities, the resort also has a mini golf course, arcade room, and fitness center. A variety of pools and hot tubs are available as well. Plus, if you need any snacks or supplies, a cafe and a convenience store sits on the property. Of course, there is also the six-acre lake surrounded by woods.

Need more choices just in case? The Philadelphia/West Chester KOA Holiday in Coatesville offers hookups, WiFi, and a pool. The hosts plan all sorts of activities for adults and children, such as the ice cream social and treasure hunt. The Brandywine River that runs through the campground is great for fishing or canoeing. Your camper rental from Spring City can find a home in any of these campgrounds before you head out to explore the city.

Exploring the City

Happy, sunburnt, and hungry after your day outdoors? Try some Puerto Rican mofongo, or stick with some American comfort food at one of the diners or country taverns. If you visit Spring City’s cross-county neighbor, Royersford, you can get the staple, a Philly hoagie, or get a big ol’ pizza pie to share. Not far, in Pottstown, you can tour a distillery that makes their own whiskey, rum, gin, and vodka. A regular pub and food trucks are on the distillery’s premises as well.

While you’re in Montgomery County, look into catching the vintage train to Boyertown in Berks County. Listen to the pianist play classics such as the “Chattanooga Choo Choo” while you gaze out the window with a cocktail or a meal before you (depending on whether you’re traveling in the Parlor or Dinner Car). Afterwards, take the kids to the antique carousel for a spin and some ice cream in Pottstown. The town also offers some more intense experiences, such as archery and hot air balloon rides.

For more exciting amusements for the children, head to Jungle Wonder, a soft jungle gym with additional activities such as blacklight mini golf and arcade games. There is also the Legoland Discovery Center in Plymouth Meeting that has rooms filled with Legos, a mini train ride, a pirate ship playground, and much more. In Royersford, plus also in Downingtown and Springfield in Delaware County, you can visit Urban Air, a trampoline park with 75 trampolines, a four-lane obstacle course, and climbing walls. For the adults who are kids at heart or simply love a challenge, there’s an indoor rock gym in Coatesville, and also in nearby towns Exton, West Chester, and Parkesburg.

If you prefer less bouncing or climbing around, the area has many museums for you to quietly explore. The Spring-Ford Area Historical Museum is full of history lessons on Spring City and Royersford. There is also Spring City Mill Studios, an art gallery where 72 artists work and feature their masterpieces. For more art, the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art in Collegeville is worth a visit. The American Treasure Tour Museum in Oaks has all kinds of oddities from a bygone time for you to look through while guided by tram—from old cars and Vespas to vintage radios and dioramas. For shopping in a lovely town, visit King of Prussia. It boasts the largest shopping mall in the nation—400 stores!—that will take care of your shopping needs. Look into other fun activities in King of Prussia, such as indoor skydiving and escape rooms, before you continue road-tripping.

Wherever you end up taking your travel trailer rental from Spring City, make sure you discover what the little borough has to offer before you head elsewhere. Once you’ve fished in the Schuylkill River, eaten at the local cafes and taverns, and learned about the history of the area, you can hop on a train or take your Spring City camper rental around the entire area and even further. Book an RV in Chester County, and happy traveling to you and yours.
