While you most likely have not heard of the tiny borough called Royersford, you do know of Philadelphia. Royersford is in Montgomery County, about 30 miles from Philadelphia if you head northwest, and it’s a good town to explore if you love the contrast of a quaint little town after visiting the big city. In fact, most locals do just that—work in the city, but lead a quiet life in the town.

Family-oriented and with a tight-knit community, the neighborhood is safe and usually peaceful. Main Street can be busy as the mom-and-pop shops and diners are thriving. With a mix of historic and modern, Royersford is an interesting place to visit in your RV rental.

The Great Outdoors

Begin your visit to Royersford in a relaxing way and head to one of the town’s parks. Riverfront Park or Lakeview Park offer you a view of the water, and Victory Park is great if you’re traveling with kids who could use a playground to release some pent-up energy. If you happen to be visiting during the summer, Victory Park hosts outdoor concerts that you can enjoy while you picnic on the grassy lawn. Upper Schuylkill Valley Park is an animal park that takes in injured wildlife for rehabilitation and permanently houses domesticated wolves. You can also spot porcupines, foxes, eagles, and more. It is located right on the Schuylkill River where you can go on a leisurely stroll. The area also permits fishing and boating.

For more strolling, visit Chanticleer Garden, a 48-acre botanical garden on Philadelphia's historic Main Line in Wayne. You can also spend a day at the Jenkins Arboretum and Gardens in Devon. If you prefer more of a workout, Norristown Farm Park is a 690-acre state park in East Norriton with hiking and biking trails and a fishing stream. More hiking trails can be found at the Natural Lands’ Binky Lee Preserve in Chester Springs.

RV Parks

While there are no RV Parks right in town, there are plenty of options nearby for your Royersford travel trailer rental. Less than 20 miles out of town is Village Scene Mobile Home Park in Hatfield. While the mobile home residents are required to be 55+, the RV park itself has no age restrictions. The sites come with hookups, laundry, and WiFi. It’s considered a great place to park and explore the nearby area, but the amenities are basic, and the park does not provide much entertainment. A short walk away is the Doylestown/Lansdale train station with direct access to Philadelphia.

In Narvon, about a 25-mile drive from Royersford, Lake in Wood RV Resort offers a ton of amenities, including a mini golf course, fitness center, and arcade room. There’s a cafe and store, as well as laundry facilities for your convenience. For those warm summer days, there are a variety of pools and, if it’s chilly outside, hot tubs. Plus, as the namesake implies, the RV park has its own lake in the woods. The six-acre lake is full of fish and fishing is permitted.

The same distance away is Philadelphia/West Chester KOA Holiday in Coatesville. The RV Park can get you set up with hookups, WiFi, and a pool. There are all sorts of activities for the kids such as treasure hunts and model rocket crafting and launching. RV sites are near the Brandywine River where you can go canoeing or fishing.

Exploring the City

Weather not ideal for outdoor activities? Vacationers with children can visit Jungle Wonder, where there is a soft jungle gym, blacklight mini golf, and arcade games. More amusement can be found at Urban Air, a trampoline park with an obstacle course and lots of other fun activities. If your Royersford camper rental is parked for the night in Coatesville, the town offers an indoor rock gym where you can boulder and climb. For those of you driving all around the neighboring cities, the same Philadelphia Rock Gym is also available in Exton, West Chester, and Parkesburg.

Fancy a train ride in a refurbished old train car? The Colebrookdale Railroad is a tourist railway that goes from Boyertown in Berks County to Pottstown in Montgomery County. You may catch a simple scenic ride, or upgrade to the parlor car if you would like a drink to enjoy during the trip. Have room for food? Dine in the dinner train while a pianist plays famous train-related songs like the “Chattanooga Choo Choo.” While in Pottstown, stop by the antique carousel and give the kids a whirl. Pinball machines and ice cream make it even more fun. Pottstown also boasts some unusual experiences. For those with great aim, Pottstown has an archery range, and for those unafraid of heights, hot air balloon rides. And if you don’t mind a little more of a drive, there is also Legoland Discovery Center in Plymouth Meeting.

After a fun day with the kids, you might want to stop somewhere for food and drinks. Royersford has a mix of dining options, such as Sichuan dan dan noodles, Sicilian pizza pies, and of course, Philly hoagies. You can also try Puerto Rican mofongo in Spring City. Pottstown offers a distillery that serves locally-made rum, vodka, whiskey, and gin. There are also pubs and food trucks at the distillery, and on weekends, you can book a tour of the place.

Love museums? The Spring-Ford Area Historical Museum can fill you in on the history of Royersford and its neighbor Spring City. There is also Spring City Mill Studios, an art gallery with rotating artwork. A seven-mile drive away in Collegeville is the Philip and Muriel Berman Museum of Art. In Oaks, also a seven-mile drive is the American Treasure Tour Museum. Displaying eclectic Americana, antiques, as well as kitsch and pop culture items, you can spend hours perusing aisles of oddities. If you’re in the mood for shopping, King of Prussia has a large shopping center that will satisfy any avid shopper.

Whether you park your RV trailer rental near Royersford and head into town or choose to drive your rig around all of Montgomery County and beyond, you will have so much to see and do during your trip. Book an RV in Royersford and set out in your luxury motorhome rental in Royersford and enjoy the scenery.
