The town consists of a few smaller sub-communities and neighborhoods, like Lampeter Village, Pioneer Woods, Candlestick, Applecroft, and Hunter’s Ridge.

This tiny humble town was named for a community in Wales. Lampeter sits among rolling hills, one of the most famous features of Lancaster County, and remains a peaceful, countryside village to this very day. When you book an RV in Lampeter, several cities and numerous parks are quite easy to find and get to, making it an ideal place to vacation if you are in an exploratory mood.

The Great Outdoors

Pennsylvania is known for its large cities and dense population centers, but much of the state is dotted with countryside, wilderness, and spectacular mountains, making it a real outdoor paradise. Before you even venture off to find one of Pennsylvania's many state parks after you rent an RV, you should drop by Lancaster Country Central Park. This incredible public facility is located smack-dab in the middle of Lancaster County, benefiting all residents looking for outdoor recreation and a place to cool off in the summer. A gigantic pool serves as one of the main attractions, in addition to a few botanical gardens, a skate park, pavilions, a library, and a campground for tent-camping.

Susquehannock State Park is nestled right up against the Susquehanna River, enjoying fabulous views of the water, and lots of riverfront beach area. There are several nature trails permeating the small park, perfect for hiking, mountain biking, and even horseback riding. Fishing in the river or kayaking around are also suitable ways to make the most of your Lampeter camper rental trip.

French Creek State Park is yet another local natural area worth mentioning, only a short drive from Lampeter. The park has several thousand acres of lush forest, with miles of hiking and equestrian trails for those who love to trek around in nature. Depending on the time of year, hunting and fishing are commonly enjoyed activities within the park. Boating and swimming in Scotts Run Lake or Hopewell Lake are great ways to beat the heat, and there is a disc golf course open year-round. Camping is also an option when you rent an RV and need a place to stay for the night. Codorus State Park has everything you could possibly want in a vacation getaway, with a massive lake for more boating, swimming, kayaking, water skiing, fishing, and more. There is a marina on the artificial Lake Marburg, a 54-hole disc golf course, and a few campgrounds by the water, perfect for lakefront relaxation in your Lampeter motorhome rental.

City Attractions

Lampeter is full of lovely landscapes, old covered bridges, and roadside produce stands operated by the Amish, and the baked goods they whip up are absolutely mouthwatering. Lampeter is still just a small community, so there isn’t much when it comes to actual attractions. The 1719 Hans Herr House is just outside of town and remains a fascinating old homage to American history. This charming museum is contained in an old house built centuries ago before the United States existed as a country. The house has the distinction of being the oldest remaining homestead in the entire county and was once used as a Mennonite meeting house. There is also a replica Native American longhouse on site and a bevy of incredible artifacts.

Dutch Wonderland is nice for a change of pace, and a fun adventure for the entire family. This 44-acre wonderland has roller coasters, water slides, splash pads, fossil digging areas, fun houses, and much more. The park is great for events and birthday parties and has a slew of eateries that will keep you satisfied throughout the day.

In nearby Lancaster, you can visit several other historical places if you have the time. Bring your Lampeter camper rental to the Lancaster Central Market, one of the oldest, continuously operating farmers markets in the country. The building is a prime example of Romanesque Revival architectural style, and there are hundreds of unique vendors selling artisan crafts, fresh veggies, and delicious meals inside.
