Forming part of Warwick Township, Jamison, Pennsylvania is a small village between the Neshaminy and Little Neshaminy creeks. It was established as a farming community back in the 17th century and is today dotted with residential houses, retail stores and services that cluster on Pennsylvania Route 263.

For RVers wanting a quiet locale to base themselves while exploring Bucks County, Jamison is a great place to rent an RV. Aside from offering easy access to natural parks and the great outdoors, it’s also ideal for day trips to Doylestown, Quakertown, and the bright lights of Philadelphia.

Discover Jamison

The Great Outdoors

Pick up your RV rental in Jamison and head east to the Tyler State Park, a 1,711-acre reserve that encompasses an old farm and natural woodlands. There are numerous walking trails to explore, some of which lead to stone dwellings that date back to the 18th century, and regular sightings of deer and beavers. Human-made highlights of the park include the early 20th-century mansion built by George F. Tyler and the famous Schofield Ford Covered Bridge that was originally constructed in 1873.

If you’ve got a keen angler in the family, don’t miss a visit to Dark Hollow, a 770-acre linear park along the Neshaminy Creek. It’s stocked annually with trout and is a scenic place to cast a line, with boat rentals also available if you want to explore the water at your leisure. Aside from fishing, the park is also home to a children’s playground, picnic facilities, hiking, and horseback riding trails.

Traveling with kids? Head to Central Park on the edge of Doylestown where you’ll find a unique playground that was inspired by local castles built by the late Henry Chapman Mercer. Alternatively, drive south to the Warminster Community Park and its Safety Town, which is clustered with miniature streets and buildings from the surrounding area. Both parks also offer walking trails where you can stretch your legs, and there are plenty of picnic facilities.

RV Parks

Pick up your camper rental in Jamison and pull into the Little Red Barn Campground, a family-owned RV destination near Lake Nockamixon. It offers more than 150 RV sites to choose from (pets are welcome), and there’s a swimming pool, a basketball court, and a children’s playground.

Also nearby is the Quakerwoods Campground where you can book one of their full hookup RV sites or a water/electric/cable-only site. This family-friendly campground runs weekend activities and hayrides during the summer months while also offering a swimming pool, basketball court, and playground.

Slightly closer to Jamison is Oak Grove Park, another pet-friendly RV destination in the borough of Hatfield. Book a motorhome rental in Jamison and pull into one of their large, gravel-covered RV sites and take advantage of the on-site laundry facilities and children’s play area.

Exploring the City

Pick up your RV rental near Jamison and drive north to spend a day exploring Doylestown, which is home to excellent museums and a historical pottery museum. Browse the Pennsylvania Impressionist works on display at the James A. Michener Art Museum, then see where handmade tiles have been produced since 1898 at the Moravian Pottery & Tile Works Museum. Another cultural institution not to miss is the Mercer Museum where a vast collection of old tools and industrial materials are displayed within a six-story concrete castle.

Continue driving northeast and you’ll arrive in Quakertown, which centers around the heritage-listed buildings of the Quakertown Historic District. Wander through the atmospheric streets that are lined with Federal, Greek Revival, and Italianate-style buildings, many of which date from the pre-Civil War period. Quakertown is also home to a charming 18th-century residence made from native fieldstone where the Liberty Bell is said to have been hidden on its convoy from Philadelphia to Allentown.

At less than an hour’s drive to the south, Philadelphia can also be visited as a day trip from Jamison, with a number of American Revolutionary sights to explore. See the famous Liberty Bell and the red-brick Georgian architecture of Independence Hall, then recreate everyone’s favorite Rocky scene outside the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Get a behind-the-scenes look at the historic Eastern State Penitentiary during a guided tour, then feast on Philadelphia’s most famous dish - a Philly cheesesteak.

Jamison is home to a large supermarket where you can find all the grocery supplies you need, and there are also a handful of fast food restaurants and eateries. There are also a couple of gas stations if you want to fill up your travel trailer rental in Jamison or you can make the seven-minute drive south to Warminster.

Whether you’re visiting Bucks County for its American Revolutionary landmarks or picturesque natural parks, book an RV in Jamison and start exploring!
