Discover Havertown

The Great Outdoors

Pick up your travel trailer rental in Havertown and drive north to the Valley Forge National Historical Park, which is situated on the site of a Revolutionary War encampment. Its historic structures and landmarks are connected along a series of walking trails, with highlights including a stone house that was occupied by George Washington from 1777 to 1778. Witness the impressive National Memorial Arch and see the iconic Muhlenberg Brigade log huts and barracks that have been meticulously recreated.

A short drive west of Havertown takes you to the Ridley Creek State Park, which sprawls across more than 2,500 acres in Edgmont. Follow the five-mile-long cycling and walking trail or wander through the formal garden designed by the Olmsted Brothers before experiencing life on a pre-Revolutionary farm at the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation. The Ridley Creek State Park also lies adjacent to the John J. Tyler Arboretum, which boasts an outstanding collection of plants and trees that can be explored along 17 miles of hiking trails.

Havertown is also a good base for visiting the French Creek State Park, which forms part of the Hopewell Big Woods. It’s a popular destination for bass fishing in Scotts Run Lake while being home to almost 40 miles of hiking and horseback riding trails, as well as technical mountain biking trails. Aside from its natural beauty, the park is historically significant as the site of the Hopewell Furnace, a cold blast furnace that has been carefully restored to its 1830s appearance.

RV Parks

After picking up your motorhome rental in Havertown, drive south to the Philadelphia South / Clarksboro KOA in neighboring New Jersey, which has a range of pull-through and back-in RV sites in a wooded setting. There’s a swimming pool, playground, and jumping pillow to keep young guests entertained, as well as an off-leash dog park where you can exercise your furry friends.

Or, head west to the Philadelphia / West Chester KOA in the Brandywine Valley. It’s positioned next to a meandering river that’s perfect for kayaking and fishing, as well as offering a swimming pool and a mini-golf course. Let your dogs run loose in the dog park or take advantage of the bicycle rentals to explore the area on two wheels.

You can make the short drive south to Springfield’s Walmart where you may be able to park for a night or two with the manager’s permission.

Exploring the City

Park your RV rental near Havertown and opt to explore on foot, visiting the 1797 Federal School that serves as the first one-room school in Haverford Township.
