Denver is a borough in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, that officially came into existence on November 1, 1881, even though it had existed earlier under the names of Bucher's Thal (after a Swiss immigrant who was the town's founder) and Union Station (for the train station that was built there). The local citizens didn't like the train station name; the name Denver was chosen because research of postal offices nationwide revealed that there was only one post office named “Denver.” Denver has one entry on the National Register of Historic Places, Butcher's Mill Covered Bridge which was added to the list in 1980.

Search for an RV in Lancaster County, and you will have your pick from among a list of varied RV makes and models, allowing you to find the one that is perfect for you. Other towns and communities are worth visiting and seeing too. Robesonia is famous for its redware, a Pennsylvania-German style of pottery. Blue Ball was named after one of the first hotels to be built in that area more than 200 years ago; the hotel owner hung a blue ball from a lamppost in front of the hotel to guide his guests, and locals soon began calling the town Blue Ball too (the name was made official in 1833). Akron was a station along an abandoned railway line which is now the Warwick to Ephrata Rail Trail. Cornwall was first settled by an English immigrant, Peter Grubb, who came looking to quarry high-quality stone but instead discovered exceedingly pure magnetite iron ore on his property. Palmyra was originally settled by Scotch-Irish immigrants and German immigrants, many of whom squatted on their land without legal title; as a result, early records of the settlements are incomplete. Your Denver RV rental is the beginning of a wonderful and memorable vacation.

The Great Outdoors

Middle Creek Wildlife Management is a multi-use wildlife refuge providing habitat for plants and animals as well as public access to outdoor recreation. There is an on-site educational facility where guests can learn about the area and its inhabitants; it has extensive information and staff who are happy to answer your questions. The center is open during business hours from around early February to Thanksgiving, has restrooms, and is wheelchair accessible. Visitors can enjoy viewing and taking pictures of the animals and scenery; hunting and fishing are allowed with the proper licenses.

French Creek State Park is one of the largest blocks of contiguous forest in the area and resides on what used to be an industrial complex. The park has been recognized for its success in reclaiming the land, designated as an Important Bird Area and an Important Mammal Area by the National Audubon Society and Pennsylvania Game Commission respectively. It consists of forests, lakes, wetlands, and open fields which provide safe habitat for a variety of wildlife and plant life. It is a perfect destination for photographers and nature observers; guests are invited to hike, mountain bike, and swim in the park. Fishing is allowed too.

Michaux State Forest was the site of the first Pennsylvanian forestry school named Mont Alto, leading to its nickname “the cradle of forestry;" it was officially named after the French botanist Andre Michaux. The forest is located at the northern terminus of the Blue Mountains, on South Mountain which is predominantly metavolcanic and quartzite rock. The hiking trails in the park are part of the 2,100-mile Appalachian Trail; visitors can hike within the park or continue along the Appalachian. There are roads through the park that are mostly paved level gravel and should be sufficient enough to take your Denver camper rental on a self-guided tour through the refuge.
