Forming part of the Hilltown Township, Blooming Glen, Pennsylvania is a small community on the outskirts of Perkasie. During the late 19th century, it was known as Moyers Store after the postmaster John S. Moyer and is home to a striking red-brick factory established by an early 20th-century cigar maker.

Today Blooming Glen is a lovely place to rent an RV and explore the sights of Bucks County, which include historic cities and peaceful lakes surrounded by nature trails. It’s within easy access of Allentown’s museums and amusement parks, as well as the American Revolutionary sites in Pennsylvania’s largest city, Philadelphia.

Discover Blooming Glen

The Great Outdoors

Book a travel trailer rental in Blooming Glen and make the short drive east to the Peace Valley Park, a 1,500-acre green space that surrounds Lake Galena near Doylestown. It’s a popular birdwatching destination, with more than 250 species recorded here and a bird blind that affords excellent sightings. Stop in at the nature center to learn about the park’s natural history and its resident wildlife, then stretch your legs along one of the hiking trails while spotting white-tailed deer and groundhogs.

Just to the north of Blooming Glen sprawls the Nockamixon State Park, which is named after the reservoir at its center. It’s one of the most popular recreational areas in southeastern Pennsylvania, with a wide variety of activities that include boating, kayaking, hiking, and mountain biking. Try your luck at catching walleye, catfish, and different types of bass, or rent a horse to explore the southern shore trails.

Another local fishing destination is the Green Lane Reservoir, which lies a 30-minute drive west of Blooming Glen. Its network of surrounding trails can be explored on foot, by bicycle, or by horseback, with the region transforming into a cross-country skiing paradise during the winter months. There are two children’s playgrounds where young visitors can let off some steam, and plenty of picnic facilities available.

RV Parks

Pick up your motorhome rental in Blooming Glen and pull into the Little Red Barn Campground, a family-owned (and pet-friendly) RV destination that nestles in a wooded setting near Lake Nockamixon. There are more than 150 sites within the campground, and amenities include a swimming pool, a game room, a basketball court, children’s playground, and a volleyball court.

Or, you can camp at the nearby Quakerwoods Campground, which is also well-equipped for families, with a swimming pool, basketball court, and playground. Sites are available with partial or full hookups, and there are weekend activities and hayrides offered during the summer season.

If you’re looking for a KOA, head north to New Tripoli where the Allentown KOA nestles in a forested valley. This alcohol-free campsite features two playgrounds, a swimming pool, and a recreational center where live entertainment, movies, and bingo are regularly held.

Exploring the City

Book an RV rental near Blooming Glen and admire the Uneek Havana Cigar Company, a rectangular brick building that dates to the early 20th century and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The community is also home to a certified organic farm that grows a variety of produce for the region’s farmers markets. Check to see what’s being harvested at the farm during your visit or stroll through their picturesque fields of blooming flowers, then head to the local farmers' markets to purchase their fresh fruit and veggies.

Spend a day wandering through the Quakertown Historic District, which is home to numerous heritage-listed buildings that date from the mid 18th century. See the Liberty Hall where the Liberty Bell is said to have been hidden on its convoy from Philadelphia to Allentown and admire the charming Georgian mansion of Enoch Roberts House. Quakertown is also home to elegant Federal, Greek Revival, and Italianate-style buildings from the pre-Civil War period, as well as Victorian residences built in the post-war years.

Around 20 miles north of Blooming Glen will see you in the heart of Allentown. Learn about the region’s Native American history at the Museum of Indian Culture or browse the Renaissance and modern American works at the Allentown Art Museum. Or, make the one-hour drive south to bustling Philadelphia to see the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, then embark on a guided prison tour of the historic Eastern State Penitentiary.
