Berwick is a borough in Columbia County that was established in 1786 and incorporated in 1818. Until 1910, Berwick was a separate community from West Berwick, but the two boroughs combined as one and have been one community ever since.

The city began its Christmas Boulevard display in 1947, a mile-long string of Christmas lights accentuated with sidewalk displays that attracts thousands of tourists annually; a Santa is on hand each year to give out snacks to people passing by. Berwick is also host to two championship high school sports teams (in football and baseball).

Search for an RV in Columbia County, and you will have your choice from amongst a fleet of RV makes and models. While you're in Berwick, it would be a good opportunity to explore other neighboring towns too. Scranton is host to a federal court building for the Middle District of Pennsylvania. Frackville earned the nickname “The Mountain City” after it the villages of Berwick and Mountain City were merged in 1876. Lehighton is host to the Great Pocono Pumpkin Festival, held annually in the fall (usually in September to October); its attractions include a walk-in haunted woods, cornfield mazes, and hayrides. Millersburg had one of its earliest schools situated in a log cabin built by the community's founder, Daniel Miller, who taught the children there for free. Williamsport is the commercial, financial, and cultural hub of north-central Pennsylvania. Your Berwick travel trailer rental is your invitation to experience this historical area in comfort and style.

The Great Outdoors

Ricketts Glen State Park is open to the public year-round from dawn to dusk. Day-use areas close at dusk; certain areas such as overnight areas and the beach are open during more specific hours and seasons (contact the park administration for additional information). Park visitors will have the opportunity to swim and picnic or hike the many trails winding through the glens, wetlands, and old-growth forests. Numerous waterfalls within the park can be viewed from the trails. There is a concession stand near the beach area, and staff occasionally conduct guided educational walks.

Pinchot State Forest is a good place for hiking and mountain biking along trails that occasionally follow the forest's creeks. Some areas of the forest provide opportunities for camping and other recreational activities, while others are reserved for habitat and wildlife protection. Park visitors arriving in winter can enjoy snowmobiling. The park was named after one of the founders of the American Conservation Movement, Gifford Pinchot. Your Berwick camper rental is the perfect vehicle to act as a viewing blind while keeping you warm and comfortable.

Bald Eagle State Forest is a composite of sandstone ridges, old-growth forest, and public watersheds, making preservation of the area along with public recreational usage essential. The Susquehanna River flows through the forest and is joined by numerous streams that flow into it. It is also a working forest, with selective logging practices being employed to harvest timber and maintain the strength and vitality of the forest's ecosystems. Hunting and fishing are allowed with the appropriate licenses, as are hiking and mountain bike riding, camping and picnicking, and other activities.

Exploring The City

Those seeking alternative shopping opportunities should check out a local boutique, while those who simply wish to put their feet up and relax can check out a local winery or a local bar (or both). The winery is a former converted farmhouse that is well decorated and comfortable; seating is limited but is on an outdoor porch.

Those looking to satisfy their intellectual cravings can check out a historical society located in a stone Victorian-style mansion. The museum is staffed by volunteers who know their local history well. Don't forget to take your Berwick motorhome rental for a drive while you have a chance.

Most of the restaurants are locally owned and operated; one 1950's-style diner has everything you would expect from a restaurant of that era, right down to the ice cream floats. Portions are large, and takeout is available, or have them wrap your leftovers to take back to your Berwick luxury RV rental for a late-night snack. Enjoying good food from the comfort of your favorite lawn chair is what vacations are meant to be.
