Founded by Colonel Joseph Benjamin Barton in 1831, Bartonsville, Pennsylvania is a lively commercial hub and bedroom community in Pocono Township. By the turn of the 20th century, it was home to a one-room schoolhouse, a grist mill, and a tannery, as well as a hotel, general store, and post office.

Today, Bartonsville’s main route is lined with modern shopping centers and residential subdivisions, with all the services you need when you want to rent an RV and explore everything Monroe County has to offer. There’s an excellent variety of campgrounds in the nearby area, with the recreational pursuits of the Pocono Mountains on your doorstep.

Discover Bartonsville

The Great Outdoors

Book an RV rental in Bartonsville and drive north to the Big Pocono State Park, which sprawls across 1,300 acres of rugged landscapes across the Camelback Mountain. Follow the scenic driving route to the summit where there are panoramic views across Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York, or explore along the seven miles of interconnecting hiking trails. The Big Pocono State Park is also home to the Camelback Ski Area, which offers the largest skiing and snowboarding facility in the Pocono Mountains.

Also north of Bartonsville is the Tannersville Cranberry Bog Preserve - a National Natural Landmark that is the southernmost boreal bog east of the Mississippi River. Wander along the floating boardwalk to get up close to the bog’s unique plant species, as well as spot resident birds that include brown creepers, Nashville warblers, and barred owls. Bobcats and coyotes are also known to inhabit the preserve, together with bog turtles and endangered bog copper butterflies.

Want to trek along the Appalachian Trail? Drive east to the Worthington State Forest that forms part of the extensive Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Around 27 miles of the Appalachian Trail passes through the area, with seven miles inside the limits of the Worthington State Forest. You can learn about the park’s human history at the Millbrook Village or Neldon-Roberts Stonehouse, then rent a canoe or kayak to explore the picturesque Delaware River at your leisure.

RV Parks

Pick up your RV rental near Bartonsville and book a spot at the Scotrun RV Resort, a pet-friendly RV destination that lies around 15 minutes’ drive to the north. It features a swimming pool, mini-golf course, and basketball court, as well as on-site laundry facilities and a beautiful lake where guests are welcome to fish.

Alternatively, make the short drive southwest to the Silver Valley Campsite, which lies on the outskirts of Brodheadsville. Pull into one of their 20, 30 or 50 amp RV sites, with two swimming pools, a game room, and complimentary Wi-Fi also available.

Another nearby option is the Cranberry Run Campground that nestles in a wooded setting in East Stroudsburg. In addition to a refreshing swimming pool, there’s a game room, and also a playground, a volleyball court, a fishing pond, and an on-site store where you can purchase supplies.

There's also a Walmart in East Stroudsburg where you may be able to camp for a night or two with the manager’s permission.
