Best known for its Wild West ambiance, Sister is a small city that packs a lot of punch. Located just up the road from Bend, along Highway 20, Sisters is now commonly referred to as "The Gateway to the Cascades."

At the beginning of its inception, Sisters was a simple, supply stop for shepherds passing through town on the way to their grazing pasture in the Cascades. Its role has primarily remained the same throughout the years, with the short interruption of the lumberjack industry in the mid 20th century. As roads improved, Sisters became an increasingly popular spot for hikers and cyclists alike to stock up on food before tackling the Cascade Mountains.

Today, Sisters has evolved into an eclectic town full of unique shops and galleries, perfect for a spot of exploring! Search for an RV in Deschutes County for a unique and wonderful getaway in The Cascades!

The Great Outdoors

Camper rental in Sisters has always been a popular choice amongst hikers, cyclists and adrenaline seekers that love spending time in the great outdoors. The Cascades are undoubtedly the biggest pull to the area, attracting thousands of visitors from Portland and Seattle, as well as from much further afield.

Earning the silver rating from the League of American Cyclists, Sisters is a mecca for any keen cyclists with an RV rental. Take your own bike or rent one from one of the rental shops in town. With their friendly staff and high-tech equipment, you are guaranteed to find the perfect bike to help you tackle the challenging cycling trails here. In fact, there are three trails that lead directly from Sisters itself. Depending on your fitness choose from; the McKenzie Pass, a challenging but rewarding ride; the Smith Rock State Park, a longer but less challenging ride, or the Metolius Loop that rewards cyclists with breath-taking views of Mount Jefferson.

When you rent a motorhome in Sisters, you will also have the opportunity to explore the weird and wonderful waterways in The Cascades. Clear Lake is just one of the lakes worth exploring, whether it be by canoe, kayak or even an organized scuba dive. From the surface, this lake seems relatively normal. Look a little closer, through the crystal clear waters, to discover the underwater forest that lives below. This is the remains of an ancient forest that once thrived in the area and has now been preserved by the cold waters that flooded it!

One of the best ways to get up close and personal with The Cascades is on foot. Unsurprisingly there are countless easy, hard and impossible trails that wind up and over the mountains, through the dense forests and past some of Oregon’s best-kept secrets. The Proxy Falls loop is the most popular trail and ideal for families with small children. However, for the best advice on which trails to tackle during a particular season, head to the visitor's center, right in the middle of town.

RV Parks

There are countless campgrounds and RV parks to camp out in with your camper rental from Sisters, but it is well worth doing some research beforehand to find a campground that suits you!

By far the most popular campground is the Sisters Garden RV Resort. This five-star resort has all of the modern luxuries you could wish for after a long day of hiking in the mountains. The majority of RV sites have full hook-ups, and there are almost more washrooms here than necessary. Open all year round, and with a well-stocked fishing pond and a miniature golf course on site, you may want to think about extending your stay!

A slightly more rustic alternative is the Sisters Creekside Campground. Within walking distance of town, this is perfect for those who prefer a quieter and slightly more secluded experience. All sites are fully serviced and situated along the Whychus Creek, making your stay both scenic and comfortable.

Of course, there are also a plethora of campgrounds found within the beautiful Cascades themselves, although these tend to be slightly more primitive. Consider staying at either Cold Springs or Three Sisters Overnight Park, both of which are tucked into the picturesque mountains and provide a selection of hook up facilities your luxury Sisters motorhome rental.

Exploring the City

Although the Cascades are the main attraction in Sisters, many choose a rental RV here, to explore the city and its unique attractions as well. Additional to the vibrant shopping area that is full of independent shops and eateries, Sisters has a healthy schedule of festivals that run all year round.

June is one of the busiest times to visit Sisters, and that is for one reason only; The Rodeo. First debuted in 1943, this rodeo spans over five days and is guaranteed to be a bucket load of fun! Take a ride on the bucking bronco, get involved with the Buckaroo Breakfast, or take part in the barrel races. Don’t forget to book your spot at the campground way in advance as spaces do fill up fast.

On the other end of the scale, is the much calmer Quilt Festival. Claiming to be the largest quilt show in America, this outdoor festival hosts a number of events throughout the second weekend in July, all of which celebrate quilt making through the ages. As well as the much-anticipated quilt parade through town, there are a number of workshops and classes for the public to get involved in too. The numbers speak for themselves, with the festival attracting more than 10,000 visitors each year!
