Belonging to Goose Lake Valley in southern Oregon, Lakeview is an idyllic place to visit and an exceptional place to rent an RV. This charming town at the foot of the Warner Mountain Range is Oregon’s highest altitude town, with nearly 5,000 feet of elevation.

Lakeview was first visited by fur trappers working for the Hudson Bay Company back in the early 19th century, and it was later settled in 1869. Despite this, there is lots of evidence found in Goose Lake Valley pointing to the fact that Lakeview has been inhabited by native people for around 14,000 years, well before recorded history.

When you book an RV in Lakeview, you'll be pretty far removed from large cities and populated areas so it can feel quite remote and peaceful. You'll find less noise, less pollution, and more happy faces in this cheery mountain valley village. You can set off to see the fabled high deserts of eastern Oregon, the state’s incredible coastlines far to the west, a collection of volcanoes and mountains in central Oregon, or some of the cities close to Lakeview like Klamath Falls and Medford.

Discover Lakeview

The Great Outdoors

Oregon is an outdoor enthusiast's wildest dream, teeming with an abundance of wildlife, lush landscapes, iconic mountain peaks, high deserts, rocky coastlines, and just about everything in between. Exploring the state using your Lakeview travel trailer rental is a fun and rewarding way to travel, but it is good to have a few campgrounds, parks, and recreation sites in mind before you set off. Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge is an excellent place to begin, with over 400 square miles of rolling plains, lakes, desert landscapes, and 300 species of wildlife. You can see sage grouse, bighorn sheep, mule deer, and more when you hike through the peaceful wilderness with nothing but your backpack. Hunting, fishing, rock collecting, cycling, and camping are part of the fun.

Fremont National Forest and Winema National Forest are two of Oregon’s many federally recognized wildernesses, both saturated with unbelievable views and spectacular mountains. There are over two million acres of land comprising both forests, with hundreds of miles of hiking trails, dormant and extinct volcanoes, thousands of species of wildlife like black bears and coyotes, and a number of campgrounds where you can park your Lakeview RV rental.

Crater Lake National Forest is perhaps Oregon's most impressive outdoor feature. The park has been added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site list for its ethereal beauty and impressive volcanic origins. The massive alpine lake sits in the caldera of a crater that came into existence when the top of the volcano exploded long ago. Now you can hike around the rim of the ancient, extinct volcano, swim in its frigid waters, go fishing, cycling, or camping in your Lakeview camper rental.

RV Parks

Oregon’s highest elevation town is a popular camping area, so naturally, there is an assortment of solid campground options to be explored in the area. Junipers Reservoir RV Resort is a pleasant, upscale destination. There are laundry facilities, spacious campsites with privacy, fresh water, showers and restrooms, and lots of walking paths.

Base Camp RV Park is another option, with delightful views of the mountains, lots of open space, community gathering areas, and much more. The park is practically in town so you can walk to local restaurants and shops.

The option to stay in public campgrounds in the nearby national forests is also a great way to make the most of your Lakeview motorhome rental trip, with lush campsites found at Mud Creek or Willow Creek Campground just minutes away from town.

City Attractions

Lakeview is quite a remote place, lost in the fabulous countryside of Oregon. Although far removed from some of the state’s larger population centers, this small town has a few fun things up its sleeve to keep you satisfied and occupied during your trip. The first place you should look into when you arrive in town is the Lake County Visitors Center, where you can find brochures, maps, and information about the area.

The Schminck Memorial Museum is the go-to historical resource for all things Lakeview. In an old 19th-century home complete with original antique furniture, there is lots to glean from this magnificent collection. Original tools, weapons, and other items from the first Oregon Trail pioneers in Lakeview are on display, as well as 6,000-year-old artifacts left behind by ancient native people in a nearby cave.

Warner Canyon Ski Area is a small-town resort where you can ski and snowboard without the long lines found at other big-name mountains. This well-kept secret features lots of thrilling runs, great views, fast chair lifts, and great food to be eaten in the warm lodge at the bottom of the mountain. There is, of course, much more to do and see nearby should you choose to venture out in your Lakeview motorhome rental.
