Haworth is a town in McCurtain County that was established in 1903. Its early economy focused on processing nearby tree stands, and numerous mills popped up to process the timber. The new town's development languished despite an early surge in lot sales; this continued until Oklahoma was approved as a state in 1907, after which the town became known as a source of lumber. Farmers moved in and occupied the cleared land, making cotton their main cash crop. The town continued to boom until the forests were almost completely harvested and the bottom fell out of the cotton market. As the Great Depression took hold, many businesses either closed or relocated and many of the town center's brick buildings were torn down. Federal and private funding in the 1970s helped the town and community to reverse the situation.

Search for an RV in McCurtain County, and you will be one step closer to a unique and interesting vacation. While you are here, consider exploring some other nearby communities. Clayton High School Auditorium was added to the National Register of Historic Places because of its unique architecture; it is one of two single-use auditoriums built by the Works Progress Administration (a federal employment program). Hugo takes its name from French author Victor Hugo and is the winter home of some circus performers. Atoka is home to Oklahoma's oldest chapters of the Freemasons and the Order of the Eastern Star. Durant is officially designated as the Magnolia Capital of Oklahoma. Your Haworth travel trailer rental is your invitation to explore this historic and scenic area.

Discover Haworth

The Great Outdoors

Caddo National Grasslands is a popular destination for visitors to enjoy hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding; the park has three lakes and visitors are allowed to go fishing on the two which are developed. The park is a multi-use preserve that sponsors habitats for wildlife and allows cattle to graze, in addition to providing outdoor recreational opportunities for the public. Head here with the Haworth campervan rental, and you'll have a chance to spot coyotes, white-tailed deer, and bobwhite quail, making this an ideal location for nature and wildlife viewing and photography. Hunting and camping are also allowed.

Pat Mayse State Wildlife Management Area is situated on the western shore of the Pat Mayse Reservoir and is an undisturbed natural area with no buildings, public facilities (restrooms or drinking water stations), or staff. The area consists of bottomlands and uplands, with open fields, hardwood timber stands, and a number of creeks that wind through the refuge. There are logging roads and natural trails that navigate through the area, allowing visitors to enjoy hiking and wildlife viewing. Fishing and camping are permitted, as is hunting; the area is closed to hiking and other uses during hunting season, which happens at specific times of the year. The logging roads are probably not suitable for your Haworth camper rental, but you can keep it nearby to enjoy its creature comforts in between your outdoor activities and have the best of both worlds.

Hugo Lake State Park is the perfect destination to observe breathtaking sunrises and awe-inspiring sunsets, and the nighttime sky is in a category of its own. The lake is accessible for fishing and boating, with a marina store and pontoon boats that can be rented. Anglers can vie for bass, crappie, catfish, and other species in the lake and river. Hikers can enjoy the park trails which have signs pointing out the tree species and wildlife you might encounter; one of the trails is paved and wheelchair accessible with its own pavilion and fishing dock. Other allowed activities include swimming, biking, and archery.

Exploring The City

If you've been out and about in the countryside, you're probably exhausted by now so what better a way to begin exploring the city than beginning with the wineries and breweries. One of the local breweries has IPAs and microbrews that customers can enjoy inside or out on the deck. There are games for the guests and TVs inside with sports and other channels. Food can be ordered and delivered from a nearby restaurant. Those who still have some energy to burn can take guided kayak or paddleboard tours, or go on a fishing tour of Broken Bow Lake. Don't forget to take your Haworth motorhome rental for a spin while you can, it's one of the unique benefits of an RV vacation and shouldn't be missed.
