Discover Spring Lake

Getting Outdoors

Covering just 16-acres, Spring Lake is not the largest of lakes, but it does boast an impressive amount of opportunities to get out and about in the great outdoors. Thanks to its long shape and calm waters, Spring Lake is perfect for a relaxing day of kayaking or canoeing. Those who are motorhome camping with their own vessel can access the waters from anywhere along the lake’s tree-lined banks. Although motorized boating is not permitted anywhere on Spring Lake, Manasquan River is just a ten-minute drive south of the lake and is perfect for all types of water sporting activities.

Spring Lake’s warm spring-fed waters and clear visibility make camping with an RV here popular amongst anglers too. Many fishing enthusiasts are attracted by the thriving trout population that lives in the waters and is restocked regularly by the local council. While non-motorized vessels can be launched onto the lake, fishing is just as lucrative from a secluded spot along the lake’s shoreline.

RV camping at Spring Lake is not just about the water itself; there are also plenty of hiking trails to get stuck into. Divine Park surrounds the lake and is the perfect place to indulge in a leisurely walk or afternoon picnic. The 1-km long Nature Walk winds around the shoreline and provides a great introduction to the region’s native flora and fauna. Bird watching is particularly common along this walk and presents the opportunity to spot swans, blue herons, and ring-billed gulls.

Camping at Spring Lake

Due to New Jersey’s relatively built-up coastline, camping near Spring Lake is limited. The nearest campground can be found in Allaire State Park, just a fifteen-minute drive west of Spring Lake. This no-frills campground is ideal for an overnight stay. Although there are no hookup facilities for your rental RV, campers can make use of the modern washroom facilities, complete with hot showers and flushing toilets, potable water amenities and on-site dump station.

For campers looking for a few more creature, comforts will need to head further afield towards Trenton, where there are several well-facilitated campgrounds situated along I-94. With full hookups at every site, modern restrooms, and an outdoor swimming pool, Timberland Lake Campground provides everything a 21-st century camper could need. WiFi is also available for an additional fee at this pet-friendly campsite, and there is a general store on-site should you need to pick up any last-minute supplies.

Exploring the Area

Rent a camper near Spring Lake, and there will be plenty to keep you busy in the surrounding area.

The National Guard Militia Museum is a hidden gem that sits just minutes away from the lake and is a must-visit during your Spring Lake camping trip. This museum is on a mission to educate everyone that walks through its doors on the importance of New Jersey’s military heritage. Through an extensive collection of historical artifacts, documentary films, and life-sized dioramas, visitors are guaranteed to leave with a newfound knowledge of New Jersey’s military significance.

A thirty-minute drive inland from Spring Lake is the family-favorite iPlay America. This indoor amusement park provides visitors with endless hours of fun and entertainment. From two levels of laser tag to a go-kart racing track, a mini-golf course to dodgeball court, there will be something to entertain the whole family at iPlay America. Don’t forget to pop into the multi-sensory theater for a movie experience like no other!

When you’re heading north from Spring Lake, along New Jersey’s spectacular coastline, don’t forget to stop off at the New Jersey Lighthouse located on Sandy Hook. Built-in 1989, this historic lighthouse has played a huge part in the safeguarding of boats coming into and out of Sandy Hook Bay. Join a half-an-hour-long tour to the top of the lighthouse with one of the knowledgeable staff, and afterward, there are plenty of secluded beaches, leisurely hiking trails, and historical monuments to explore around the lighthouse too!
