Discover Penns Grove

The Great Outdoors

After you pick up your travel trailer rental from Penns Grove, set out on an adventure around Salem County taking in the magnificent scenery and wide open spaces which range from beach settings and inland waterways, to pitch pine lowlands and upland pine and oak forests.

The “Wild & Scenic” nationally designated Maurice River borders Salem to the east and is a great way to enjoy the surrounding woodlands and an assortment of wildlife as you paddle downstream on pristine waters. Parvin Lake is suitable for all water skill levels and is part of the beautiful Parvin State Park, located in Pittsgrove, and includes miles of biking and hiking trails, swimming, fishing, along with opportunities to rent a watercraft. You can also opt to cruise along the Salem River in a canoe or kayak, which at approximately 30 miles long is one of the largest tributaries to the Delaware River and runs through the Supawna National Wildlife Refuge, Mannington Meadows, and the Salem River Wildlife Management Area and back via a number of routes.

If you feel like a bike ride after you rent an RV here, the Salem and Cumberland Counties’ Bayshore region offers great opportunities to tour the rural countryside by bike on 52 miles of mostly flat coastal plain with a few easy climbs. This route begins and ends at Fort Mott State Park and features an abundance of natural beauty and historic sites such as the Alloways Creek Wetlands Restoration Site, Abbott’s Meadow Wildlife Management Area, Finns Point Rear Range Lighthouse, Hancock House State Historic Site and more.

RV Parks

Salem County features a number of campgrounds with a variety of amenities to accommodate you and your motorhome rental from Penns Grove.

One place to consider is the Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA, which features semi-wooded areas and a catch-and-release fishing pond, plus an activity park and camp store. This campground is located in peaceful countryside that is also conveniently close to downtown Philly, so there’s plenty of fun to be had on or near the premises. RV sites here include full hookups with cable TV with easy access to the laundry room, swimming pool, bike rentals, and an off-leash dog park for your canine companions.

You also have the option of staying in a setting like Parvin State Park, which is located between Centerton and Vineland on Route 540. If you choose to camp here, you’ll be situated in a great spot to launch a boat or cast a line at the popular Thundergust Lake, Parvin Lake, and Muddy Run. Spend a day trekking around the park’s pine or swamp hardwood forests and enjoy starry nights back at your site, which will offer basic comforts like a fire ring, picnic table, and lantern hook. Flush toilets, showers, laundry facilities, and a playground are within walking distance.
