In Mercer County, the borough of Pennington can be found just north of the city of Trenton and Levittown. This quaint village is typical of the area, as a farming community founded it at the beginning of the 19th century. The farmers were wealthy, and with suitable land, the town slowly expanded over time from about 30 dwellings to a population of over 2,000 people.

This park covers over 1,600 acres of land split into six districts, making this huge park easy to explore. One district, Rosedale Park, is home to varied natural environments including meadows and forests, with the Lawrence-Hopewell Trail taking hikers through both habitats and by the Rosedale Lake.
