A short drive south of Mount Ephraim is the Tall Pines State Preserve near Woodbury Heights, New Jersey. Tall Pines was established on the remains of a defunct golf course. The old golf paths make for durable walking paths that wind through the grounds. In addition, Tall Pines is home to dozens of different waterbird and songbird species, so avid birders should check out this unique spot.

If you head even farther south into South Jersey, you’ll find Parvin State Park in Vineland, New Jersey. If you’re visiting Parvin in the summer, you can enjoy the lifeguarded beach on the shores of Parvin Lake. And no matter what time of year you visit, you can enjoy the network of trails that wind through the almost 500-acre preserve. This is also a great spot for birders, with nearly 200 species living in the park, including the stunning barred owl.
