The Delaware River as well as the Delaware and Raritan Canal were all critical to the growth and prosperity of Lambertville, New Jersey. When the Canal was opened in 1834, it marked a pivotal moment in this area of New Jersey. It took 4,000 Irish immigrants to dig the canal with picks and shovels. When an epidemic of cholera broke out during its construction, dozens of these workers ended up buried along the banks of the canal and Delaware River. When you look for RV rentals in Lambertville, you can explore some of this incredible history as well as some amazing beauty and the natural surroundings in this region of the country.

You can also head a bit south and visit Wharton State Forest.
