Hammonton was founded in 1812, and initially was named Hammondton, but the spelling changed over time. Exploring the Town of Hammonton

Hammonton is a charming little town with a lot of historical buildings and old houses to see, including the Batsto Village which is only about 15 minutes' drive from the town. Also, there are many wineries in the area, and most of them offer wine tasting tours. If you want to take a walk, visit Hammonton Lake Park, located on the shore of Hammonton Lake. There is a golf course nearby if you want to spend a day surrounded by a different kind of greenery.
