Haddonfield is a borough of Philadelphia which straddles the New Jersey side of the Delaware River. Known initially as West Jersey, the town was an important center of commerce when it was first established, as it is dissected by an offshoot of the Delaware River, the Cooper River. This river access meant nearby early settlements such as Salem were able to trade in the area via boat.

Named after one of the Quaker settlers who first settled here, Mary Haddon, Haddonfield soon became a prominent farming and trading community in the region. Haddonfield has continued to prosper due to its proximity to Philadelphia and New York, as well as its many historical sites, natural wonders, and resources.
