Cherry Hill, New Jersey sits next to the city of Camden and across the Delaware River from Philadelphia, one of America’s largest and oldest cities. The city gets its name from the numerous cherry blossom trees that line Chapel Avenue and burst into a stunning display of pink and white in the last few weeks of April each year. When you book an RV in Cherry Hill, you’ll have the chance to camp in a relatively sparsely populated part of New Jersey while still having easy access to all the great attractions in the city.

Cherry Hill is well connected with the rest of the Philadelphia metropolitan area via Philly’s extensive bus system. You won’t need to worry about driving a big rig all around the city and finding a place to park it. Just leave it back at the campground and enjoy the city on foot.

Discover Cherry Hill

The Great Outdoors

If New Jersey is known for one thing, it’s for being a densely populated urban landscape. But that doesn’t mean there’s nowhere you can go to escape the crowds and enjoy nature. The 300-acre Cooper River Park separates Cherry Hill from the towns of Collingswood and Haddon Township and is one of the premier outdoor recreation areas in the region. The massive park forms a greenway from the edge of Cherry Hill almost all the way to the Delaware River, providing an excellent respite from urban life.

Another option for enjoying nature is Laurel Acres Park a little way to the southwest of Cherry Hill. The park features a large hill that’s popular for sledding in the winter along with a dog park and plenty of playground equipment. This is a great place to go for a stroll when you rent an RV here.

If you need something a little more wild though, check out the Wharton State Forest halfway between Cherry Hill and the coast. The 120,000-acre forest surrounds the Mullica River and is one of the largest protected forests in southern New Jersey. The river is a popular kayaking spot, and boats can be rented from nearby sporting goods stores and outfitters. It’s also home to the historic Atsion Mansion, an 1880's country home that has been restored and is open for visitors.

RV Parks

Philadelphia South/Clarksboro KOA is in Washington Township and offers a variety of amenities. They’ve got full hookups for your Cherry Hill RV rental along with a swimming pool, dog park, and fishing pond. Its location just across the river from Philadelphia makes it the perfect place to stay if you’re thinking about visiting the City of Brotherly Love.

Another option for the Cherry Hill motorhome rental is Lake Kandle Campground, a short distance to the south of the city. Like the KOA, Kandle has full hookups for your rig, but the centerpiece of the campground is the private Lake Kandle, which is open for swimming, fishing, and boating. They even have some waterslides built for an adrenaline-fueled ride into the lake.

There’s also a public campground in the Wharton State Forest to the southeast of Cherry Hill, the Goshen Pond Camping Areas. Sites here have fewer amenities, with no hookups and only pit toilets available. However, if you really want to get out in nature when you choose a camper rental in Cherry Hill, this could be a good place to do it.

Exploring the City

There are loads of great museums to visit around Cherry Hill, especially if you’re willing to cross the river into Philadelphia, but one of the closest and most impressive for kids is the Garden State Discovery Museum. All of the exhibits in this interactive museum are just begging to be touched and feature such gems as a mini-ice rink, a climbing wall, and farm stand where the little ones can learn about the importance of fruits and vegetables.

If you have animal lovers in the family, you’ll definitely need to check out the Adventure Aquarium in Camden. It has one of the largest collections of sharks on the East Coast in addition to hippos, penguins, and dozens of fascinating aquatic species. If you’ve ever wondered why lies beneath the ocean surface, these will be some eye-opening exhibits.

For a good shopping experience when you have a travel trailer rental in Cherry Hill, stop by the Cherry Hill Mall on the north side of the city. You’ll find hundreds of stores and eateries at this massive retail outlet, including most of the name brand labels you would expect at higher-end malls. It even has some history attached to it: it was the first indoor, climate-controlled mall built east of the Mississippi River.
