Established in 1926 from parts of Centre Township, Bellmawr, New Jersey is a vibrant borough to the southeast of Philadelphia. It was named after Ernest C. Bell and is home to one of the largest post offices in the state of New Jersey.
Bellmawr’s proximity to American Revolutionary battlefields and scenic reserves makes it a good base to rent an RV while exploring Camden County. It’s within easy access of family-friendly RV parks while offering plenty of commercial services right on your door.
If you’re into birdwatching, pick up your RV rental in Bellmawr and drive south to the Glassboro Wildlife Management Area. It sprawls over more than 2,000 acres of low deciduous swamp and oak/pine forests that attract a myriad of local and migratory species. Follow one of the walking trails that lead through an understory of mountain laurel and wild azaleas to the reserve’s ponds while keeping your eyes peeled for hooded, Kentucky, and prothonotary warblers.
If you’re after a long walk, drive southeast from Bellmawr to the Wharton State Forest, which protects a large tract of Atlantic coastal pines within the New Jersey Pinelands National Reserve. The Wharton State Forest is just a short drive from the Brendan T. Byrne State Forest where you can access around 25 miles of hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing trails.
