Between Atlantic City and Philadelphia, you can book an RV in Atco and start planning your next vacation to wonderful New Jersey. Much different than the crowded, urbanized parts of northern New Jersey close to New York City, the southern part of the state has a certain charm to it. Wide open forests, small towns, and stellar beaches have continually contributed to southern New Jersey being a vacation hotspot, and Atco is no exception.

Atco’s name is thought to derive from the Atlantic Transport Company, which placed a large shipbuilding order for nearby Camden. Others speculate that Atco is a native word for “land of many deer.” What people do know is that there is always a fantastic time to be had when you rent an RV in Atco to see the state and all of its attractions.

The Great Outdoors

There are numerous parks and forests scattered throughout southern New Jersey. This region of the state is packed with natural beauty and outdoor recreation. Rancocas State Park is a charming park just a short drive north of the town. This idyllic little park is great for hiking, biking, observing wildlife, or taking part in outdoor workshops.

Wharton State Forest is a much larger nature area that you visit with the Atco motorhome rental without driving too far. The forest is the largest in New Jersey, with over 120 acres of pristine woodlands to explore. This mesmerizing part of the famous New Jersey Pine Barrens is teeming with incredible wildlife, brilliant landscapes, historical structures, and old ghost towns long since abandoned. Within the park, you can find smaller camping areas like the Goshen Pond Camping Area which allows you to stay the night in your Atco campervan rental.

Parvin State Park is south of Atco, known for its complicated and fascinating past. The state park was once home to an internment camp for the children of Japanese-Americans during WWII, as well as a POW camp for German prisoners. There are also old Russian refugee settlements for people who fled the USSR during the Cold War, as well as a series of other encampments. There are swimming beaches, rental cabins, and campsites where you can park the Atco RV rental by owner. If you want to see the Atlantic coastline, you can do so at the North Brigantine State Natural Area just north of Atlantic City. This glorious natural area sits on a barrier island, with stunning views and elegant beaches perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

RV Parks

When you finally pick up your Atco camper rental, you’ll find there to be lots of places to call your temporary home. Jellystone Park in Elmer, New Jersey is a thrilling, kid-friendly campground based off the famous Yogi Bear. There are rental cabins, spacious campsites, playgrounds, pools, and a waterpark at this fun park.

City Attractions

Atco is a nice place to explore, with restaurants, breweries, wineries, shopping centers, and a variety of other fun stops along the way. As far as attractions go, the Atco Raceway is worth a visit you rent an RV in town. This storied raceway has a drag strip that frequently hosts big-name events for motorcycles and cars.
