Belgrade, Montana is a tiny, tranquil town located along the Interstate 90 corridor between Bozeman and Missoula. With only 3.5 square miles and less than 10,000 residents, Belgrade remains a sleepy community in the sparsely populated Gallatin County. Belgrade takes its name from the capital of Serbia because the founders of the small Montana town wanted to show appreciation to the Serbian inventors who helped finance their portion of the Northern Pacific Railroad. There is not a whole lot to do in town itself, but booking an RV in Belgrade, Montana is absolutely ideal; Belgrade is in the middle of Gallatin Valley and is surrounded by national parks, forests, ski mountains, and many other attractions.

In addition to Interstate 90, Belgrade is minutes from Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport which services most of the region. This important transport hub makes Belgrade easily accessible, so getting to and from this town has never been easier.

Discover Belgrade

Explore the Outdoors

Belgrade might not have so many things to do right in town, but it’s still an amazing and exciting place to rent an RV. Montana is an outdoor paradise teeming with recreation activities and surreal scenery. There is something to see in all directions around Belgrade and it will be up to you to figure out where to go first.

About an hour north of town towards Montana’s capital, Helena, the incredible Helena National Forest has ample amounts of things to do and see. The forest is home to the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness, which Lewis and Clark encountered on their journey, and the Big Belt Mountains. There are over 700 miles of hiking trails here and much to explore, but be careful because grizzly bears call Helena National Forest home! Lewis and Clark National Forest, named for the explorers who were commissioned by Thomas Jefferson to explore the furthest reaches of the Louisiana Purchase, is another fine place to take your Belgrade camper rental. The nearly 3,000 square mile swath of wilderness has abundant natural wildlife, and many places to hunt, fish, snowmobile, ski, snowshoe, hike, and bicycle.

Belgrade is within driving distance of three of the United States’ greatest national parks. Glacier National Park is consistently ranked one of the most beautiful places in the country and attracts 3.3 million people a year to witness its ethereal beauty firsthand. The mountains within the park were created 170 million years ago when colossal glaciers left their mark upon the land and pushed the earth’s crust to readjust. This stunning protected area is full of mountain peaks and monoliths, old growth forests, and countless endangered animal species.

You can head south in your Belgrade rental RV and check out the world-famous Yellowstone National Park, the very first national park of its kind. With over two million acres of land, you will find excitement wherever you go. The park is notorious for its intense geological activity, and its many sulfur pools and geysers, most notably the Old Faithful Geyser that blasts water from deep underground into the atmosphere. Don’t forget to pay a visit to Grand Teton National Park which is right around the corner from Yellowstone and features breathtaking mountain views in its own right.

City Sightseeing

When you book an RV in Belgrade, you will find that the town itself is not set up to be a destination in itself, but more likely a jumping off point for local adventures. Since Belgrade benefits from being surrounded by forests and mountain peaks, there is much you can do in your Belgrade motorhome rental.

Perhaps the town’s main attraction is the Gallatin Speedway, which hosts dirt track automobile races throughout the summer months. Aside from the sleepy main streets, most people prefer to drive 10 minutes to nearby Bozeman, a charming college town with lots to do and see. The fabulous Museum of the Rockies is located in Bozeman and is an affiliate with the Smithsonian Institute. The museum has many exhibits and serves as a repository for fossils. They even have a complete T-Rex skeleton on display in addition to a planetarium where you can learn about the cosmos.

The other biggest draw to both Belgrade and Bozeman is the winter recreation scene, with nearby mountains like Big Sky and Whitefish mountains. Jackson Hole, in Wyoming, also offers some incredible skiing and snowboarding opportunities on in the Grand Teton Mountains.

RV Parks to Visit

Find that sweet peace of mind when you take the plunge and rent an RV in Belgrade, with local mechanics and plenty of places to fuel up and purchase groceries. Finding a place to stay is also incredibly easy, even if there are no parks within the town itself.

On the other side of Bozeman, Bear Canyon Campground is one of your best bets. Open from seasonally from spring to fall, the campground has lots of RV-friendly sites and an excellent heated outdoor pool.

Bozeman Hot Springs Campground and RV Park is another park option, just south of Belgrade by about 10 minutes. They have many amenities including a giant chess board, pavilion, game room, pool, hot springs, a rental store, and they even throw in free breakfast for those staying with them.

Three Forks Market and RV Park has all you need with a gourmet deli and market inside their cozy park that can accommodate even the biggest recreational vehicles. There are obviously many more places to stay in your Belgrade camper rental, because Montana is fully loaded with places to camp in its majestic outdoors.
