Willow Springs is a city in Howell County, Missouri, that was named after a proximate spring; however, the site of the city was moved early on in order to be closer to the nearest railroad.

Book an RV in Howell County, and you are one step away from a world-class adventure in a storied state. You might want to consider visiting other neighboring cities while you are here. Licking was named after a nearby “mineral lick” (a site where wildlife lick the ground surface in order to find trace minerals), and was also known as “Buffalo Lick.” Ellington is very close to the Civil War Fortification at Barnesville, a historical monument built in the shape of a horseshoe. Ava was originally founded in 1864 as Militia Springs, an encampment of Union Soldiers during the American Civil War; it was renamed Ava in 1881 and incorporated in 1908. Your Willow Springs travel trailer rental is how you will experience this historical area in comfort.

The Great Outdoors

Gist Ranch Conservation Area was purchased by the Missouri Conservation Department in 1997 with the aim of stabilizing the area's ecosystems and promoting nature recreation. It is known locally as “Gist Ranch” and hosts a variety of natural communities such as wetlands and small dolomite glades surrounded by savanna on the ridges and south and west facing slopes. Visitors will observe orange coneflower, cowbane, and other flower species, salamanders (in the wetlands), deer, and turkey (higher up), and others. Visitors can enjoy hunting and fishing, and there is a firing range on-site; there are trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Guests can also camp and bird or wildlife watch within the park.

Busiek State Forest and Wildlife Area is a heavily forested park where guests may hunt or enjoy the unstaffed firing range. Hiking, biking, and horseback riding are popular activities, and camping is also allowed with a permit. It is an ideal location for bird, wildlife and nature observation, and photography. Park your Willow Springs camper rental here, and you can use it as an observation blind.

Ozark National Scenic Riverways was created in 1964 by an act of Congress with the hope of protecting the Current and Jacks Fork Rivers in the Ozark Highlands. The landscape surrounding the rivers is mostly rural and consists of oak-pine forests and intermittent open fields. It is an excellent location for canoeing and kayaking, swimming, tubing, and other activities. Hiking is popular within the park boundaries as is bird watching.

RV Parks

There are a multitude of RV parks and campgrounds near Willow Springs, and some of them may have mobile homes. Your Willow Springs RV trailer rental is all you will need to have a relaxing vacation wherever you decide to stay.

Arrowhead Campground is a family-friendly spot located near the Jacks Fork River and has its own private riverside beach where guests can swim or sun worship. From the park, guests have access to trails where they can hike or mountain bike, or they can fish along the river banks. Individual sites are spacious with level gravel pads and plenty of grass areas and trees; there are fire rings and full hookups (30 and 50 amp).

Exploring The City

One of the first places to check out when exploring the area with a motorhome rental in Willow Springs is the Centennial Bike Trail, which is good for walking, hiking, and biking (although it might be a little too long for those on foot to cover completely). It is mostly a paved bike path with no street crossings (there are one or two exceptions) that has scenic water vistas and alternates between shade and open sky.

A local business offers trail rides on horseback as well as allowing guests to pet the horses and other animals, such as an alpaca, before or after the ride has finished. The business also rescues neglected or unwanted horses and creatures, taking good care of them and providing them with a home. A historical schoolhouse has become a popular attraction, with exhibits and an old-fashioned (and still working) public payphone; the area has trails for hiking.

Once dinnertime has rolled around, Willow Springs has you covered. Prices range from inexpensive to moderately priced and fine dining, and there is a range of different cuisines to choose from, so there really is something for everyone. An Italian restaurant is open for lunch and dinner and has a relaxing ambiance. The menu is extensive with a nice selection of wines, and the food presentation is immaculate. Guests eating here should try the White Fish Francese, an egg battered white fish in lemon-white wine sauce. The restaurant offers takeout, but if you decide to eat in, you can always have your leftovers wrapped and take them home to your Willow Springs luxury RV rental for a late-night snack. Good food, a comfortable lawn chair, and an open sky (with sunset or stars) are what vacations are all about.
