Situated on the south bank of the Cannon River, Morristown is a small city in the southeast of Minnesota. It was laid out in 1855 and named after a pioneering settler, Jonathan Morris, before the first post office opened in 1856 with Walter Morris (Jonathan’s son) serving as the postmaster.

Morristown’s proximity to fishing lakes, recreational reserves, and the Twin Cities metropolitan area make it a great place to rent an RV. It’s well-served by family-friendly RV campgrounds, and there are all the services you need in nearby Faribault and Waseca.

Cast a line to see what’s biting or hit one of the numerous multi-use trails, such as the 41-mile-long Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail that connects Faribault and Mankato.

Stretch your legs along the 10 miles of hiking trails that wind through the reserve, traversing wetlands, forests, and prairies, or participate in one of their regular nature programs.

Anglers should head to Cannon Lake, which sprawls across more than 1,500 acres to the northeast of Morristown. It forms part of the Cannon River system that eventually drains into the Mississippi River and is renowned for its population of walleye that average around 17 inches in length. Other species regularly caught here include largemouth bass and white crappie, as well as yellow perch and bluegill.
