Mankato is a city in Blue Earth County, Minnesota, that was established by settlers moving west in 1852. It is also the county seat of Blue Earth County. Mankato is situated at the meeting of the Minnesota and Blue Earth Rivers; early settlers were directed to the area because of its beauty, its suitability for building structures and greeting river traffic, and because it was less prone to flooding than other areas. The area around Mankato has been a frequent setting in popular culture, appearing as a trading town in the TV series Little House on the Prairie. It also served as the heroine's hometown in the 1920 novel Main Street by Sinclair Lewis and as the basis or inspiration for the fictitious Deep Valley in the children's literature series Betsy-Tacy by author Maud Hart Lovelace.

Search for an RV in Blue Earth County, and you will be one step closer to the vacation of your dreams. Other towns are also worth visiting while you're here. Glencoe has a post office that was established in 1856 and is still operational today. Waseca means “rich in provisions” in the Dakota language. Madelia is where the remaining members of the (Jesse) James-Younger gang were captured after failing to rob a bank in Northfield, Minnesota. Fairfax refers to itself as a “Little Big Town,” a reference to its blend of rural agricultural awareness and small-town efficiency. The Great Outdoors

Minneopa State Park was established in 1905 by the state government to protect the increasingly popular park while simultaneously allowing public access. The name “Minneopa” means “water falling twice” in the Dakota language, a reference to Minneopa Creek's waterfalls. The park is home to a wide variety of bird and mammal species; guests in the park near sunset may have the opportunity to hear the coyotes howling in the distance. The park is hilly and wooded to the south and consists of prairie intermixed with marshes, lakes, and streams in the north. There are trails for hiking and biking in the summer, snowshoeing in the winter, and picnic areas, among other things.

Seven Mile Creek County Park was created in 1967 by Nicollet County. It consists of wooded slopes baring sandstone that may be up to 500 million years old. Guests can hike the trails that lead through the woods or use the park shelters and picnic areas. There are two volleyball courts, a baseball diamond, and a playground for younger children. Keep your Mankato camper rental nearby, and you can combine your outdoor activities with the creature comforts of home, enjoying the best of both.

Watona Park is a cultivated recreational area providing the public with opportunities to fish or canoe on the river or enjoy the playground, volleyball courts, or disc golf course. Visitors can camp in the park and have access to full hookups for RVs and tent camping sites. In the winter, the park is an excellent place to enjoy cross-country skiing and snowmobiling.
