Lakeville is a suburb of the St. Paul & Minneapolis, located in Dakota County, Minnesota. It is almost 38 square miles in size and is also a fast growing city, one of the fastest in this area, due to the increasing cost of land in metropolitan areas. The exodus of people to Lakeville from other areas and resulting increase in housing has made it a boomtown. Lakeville's expansion has also resulted in its unique vibe, having all the benefits of a bigger city without losing its small-town appeal. Search for an RV in Lakeville and begin your exploration of this unique state. Other nearby cities worth checking out are Minneapolis, Rochester, New Prague, Northfield and Jordan.

Major industry began in Lakeville in the 1960s and is still important to the economy; it is a center for both smaller startup companies and larger established ones. Agriculture has been important to Lakeville for many years; in fact, the earliest migrants to settle here were farmers of Scandinavian, Norwegian, Irish, Scottish and English descent. Agriculture is still an important industry, despite the influx of industry, which means that the food you will be eating and buying in grocery stores is very likely straight from a nearby farm. Spending your vacation in a travel trailer rental near Lakeville means that you will have the option of delicious home cooked meals any time you want.

There are a number of lakes, rivers, small ponds and wetlands within Lakeville's city limits (as the name implies), making it a good destination for swimming, boating and fishing. Winter guests to this city can even try their hand at ice fishing, although pairing up with someone who is experienced is a good idea. Parking your Lakeville luxury RV rental nearby when you're ice fishing offers you a warm, cozy space to come back to when you have finished.

Some famous celebrities have called this Minnesota city home, including Rachel Banham of the WNBA Connecticut Sun, pro football players Kevin Kaesviharn and Paul Krause (Minnesota Vikings & Hall of Famer), NASCAR driver Joey Miller, NHL alumni Jordan Schroeder (Columbus Blue Jackets), Brady Skjei (New York Rangers) and Ryan Poehling (Montreal Canadiens), and Bradley Ellingboe (a composer).

Discover Lakeville

The Great Outdoors

This section of Minnesota doesn't have any mountains to speak of but it still offers good hiking and outdoor activities, if you know where to look. Exploring this part of Minnesota in your Lakeville camper rental also allows you (or preferably your co-pilot) the opportunity to capture this wonderland in photos, to remember your vacation long after it has finished.

Murphy-Hanrehan Park Reserve, northwest of Lakeville, is a good place to begin your outdoor adventures. It is mostly undeveloped but has trails for hiking and biking, and is a good place for bird watching. The National Audubon Society has designated this park as an Important Bird Area. In winter, the park is an ideal venue for cross-country skiing. The park is open daily, but overnight camping is not possible. You can still bring your Lakeville motorhome rental with you on your daily sojourn to combine the best of the outdoors with the best of the indoors.

Vermillion Highlands has rolling hills, marshes and grasslands. It is a good area for hiking, biking and cross-country skiing; it also allows hunting at certain times of the year.

RV Parks

Many of the RV resorts listed online for this area offer daily, weekly and monthly rates, which could mean that many campsites have long-term guests.

Minneapolis Southwest KOA has RV sites, with a combination of full hookup sites and sites with just water and electricity. It is west of Lakeville and slightly north of Jordan, but still within reasonable distance. It has a playground and small pet area, horseshoes, volleyball, basketball and mini golf, restrooms, showers and laundry, and a swimming pool.

Lake Byllesby Regional Park Campground has RV sites in the west area of the park (there is tent camping but in another section away from the RVs). It has restrooms and showers, a beach and playground, two boat launching sites (motorized and non-motorized), a dump station and a recycling station, and more.

Exploring The City

There are many interesting things to do in Lakeville, starting with paintball centers. This is a good activity for all ages and can be played indoors or outdoors, depending on the season; you may want to leave your Lakeville RV rental back at the RV resort just to be safe, in case anyone (ahem) misses their target. Lakeville also has shooting ranges, for those who want to target practice with the real thing. There are target ranges where participants can practice hitting the bullseye the old-fashioned way: with a lumberjack's axe (axe throwing). These activities come with training and observation, for safety reasons.

When the dinner bell finally rings, Lakeville does not disappoint. Prices range from cheap eats to moderately priced, and the range of cuisines is extensive as well. As Lakeville prides itself on its agriculture industry, local eateries can offer fresh meat and produce right off of the farm that day. The pickier customers can choose from Chinese, Japanese or (other) Asian menus, Mexican, barbecue or steakhouses, or more. Most restaurants here are vegetarian and vegan friendly, so no one is left out.
