Since no visit to the Midwest is complete without having spent at least some time by one of the majestic Great Lakes, you’d better hop into your motorhome rental in Pewamo and head toward Muskegon State Park. Instead, you can head to Ionia and visit the old theater, built for Vaudeville entertainers but turned into a cinema. Even though some of the movies might be pretty modern, the interior design and nostalgic atmosphere sure are not.

If you’re at all into engines, vintage things, and trains, then a visit to the Steam Railroading Institute is a must. Here you’ll find an abundance of really cool trains, locomotives, and boxcars, all of different ages and with different stories to tell. Around Christmas time, you can go on the North Pole Express, and during the warmer months, there are many other rides to go on.

For a little taste of both art and rich flora, Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is a lovely place to wander around. Admire the sculptures, have a look at the amphitheater, or stroll around the Japanese garden - you can even find one dedicated to Michigan farming. Here you can also buy some gifts for your loved ones, as a consolation prize for their disappointment that they didn’t decide to book an RV in Pewamo too.
