First platted as Michigan Centre in 1837, Michigan Center is a small unincorporated community of a few thousand people in southern Michigan. Michigan Center exists on the outskirts of Jackson and is merely an hour's drive from both Detroit, the state’s largest city, and the state capital, Lansing.
Michigan Center, at one point in time, was an industrious mill town that soon became overtaken by Jackson as the largest town in the area. Now Michigan Center exists as a commuter city with most of its residents working in Jackson or any one of the other nearby towns.
When you decide to book an RV in Michigan Center, you’ll notice there are plenty of recreation areas and cities within driving range, making it a versatile location for vacation purposes. The Carp Carnival in June is the most festive time of year in Michigan Center, and a surefire way to see the community at its liveliest; barbecues, parades, fishing competitions, and amusement park games are all part of the fun when you rent an RV during the summertime celebration.

Pinckney State Recreation Area is connected with Waterloo State Recreation Area by the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail, a 35-mile hiking trail with amazing scenery. If you are feeling really adventurous, the Huron-Manistee National Forests tract is a bit of a trek but worth the effort. Apple Creek Campground & RV Park is a family owned park. It has a large recreation hall, a game room, a camp store, an in-ground pool, and spacious camping spots.
Holiday RV Campground is another option and offers camping sites scattered over hundreds of acres. There are a variety of sports courts and fields, a pool, a swimming pond, sandy beaches, and a convenience store.

Michigan Center is a smaller unincorporated area that lacks a true central downtown area, so heading to Jackson in your Michigan Center RV rental is perhaps the best way to get your fill of city fun. As far as points of interest go, the Coe House Museum is a wonderful place to stop off if you have time. The ornate old house is full of antique furniture that lets you step back in time to see how people once lived.
The Ella Sharp Museum has ever-changing galleries of art from a variety of different artists and periods, keeping frequent visitors on their toes. There is also a myriad of antiques and artifacts reflecting the history of Jackson, as well as a fascinating planetarium where learning about the solar system and beyond is possible.
The Michigan International Speedway is less than a 30-minute drive from Michigan Center and is home to some of NASCAR’s biggest racing events. There are over 50,000 seats on the racetrack, and plenty of RV sites are nearby for tailgating and camping out in your Michigan Center camper rental.
