Michigan is a massive state that can take many trips to completely explore, and each region within the state is quite different from one another. An easy way to see southern Michigan is to book an RV in Hudson and explore from there. Hudson is conveniently located near to Battle Creek, Lansing, and Detroit, and lies on near the south-central border of the state.

Hudson may be small, but their motto stands as a welcoming beacon for guests: “Small Town Big Heart.” RV rentals in Hudson, Michigan, can start with small-town charm and lead to greater adventure, especially for guests who are seeking both outdoor and city-based attractions. Hudson is near to the southern border of Michigan so for those looking to explore Michigan this starting point will ensure they don’t miss anything as they explore north, east, and west.

The Great Outdoors

As is the case in much of Michigan, beautiful natural attractions are never too far away no matter where you are. A camper rental in Hudson is an obvious way to enjoy the outdoors, and one of the closest attractions is the Lake Hudson Recreation Area. This combination land and water-based park has many miles of trails to explore. Guests can boat and swim when the weather is agreeable, and there are plenty of picnic spots with striking views.

A similar attraction, but a bit more rugged, lies to the west of Hudson. The Pittsford State Game Area is a great place to check out when you rent a motorhome from Hudson. This state game area is used for hunting during hunting season, so be sure to only visit it when there isn’t any active hunting going on. This information is on their website or by contacting them by telephone. There are many acres of dense wilderness to explore, and because of a lack of established trails, you won’t have to share the space with nearly as many other visitors.

During the summer is a great time to pick up a travel trailer rental in Hudson because of the nearby Manitou Beach-Devils Lake. This large body of water offers opportunities to boat, swim, kayak, paddle board, and more. There are many playgrounds along the shores, and picnic shelters are a great place to set up for a day of fun and activity.

RV Parks

One of the most accessible RV parks for your luxury RV rental from Hudson is Lake Hudson Recreation Area, just east of town. The sites offered at this recreation area contain basic hookups of water and electricity, the latter in both 30 and 50 amps. There are a few pull through sites, and although there aren’t many concrete pads, all of the sites are built on elevated ground to help prevent mud and soggy parking situations. Of course, the beauty of this RV park isn’t the amenities, but instead the surrounding recreation area, so for guests seeking a greater outdoor experience this park is a nice choice.

The largest collection of RV parks in the area are to the east, on Lake Erie. Along the shores of the lake, north of Toledo, OH, guests will find many RV parks that offer a large assortment of amenities and parking options to suit their needs. Everything from onsite pools to yard games, laundry facilities and showers, recreation rooms, volleyball courts, and more can be found throughout the RV parks in this area.

If neither of these options seem to be what you are seeking, there are also two Walmart Supercenters near to Hudson. Although it isn’t guaranteed, often times when you rent an RV, you can park it at a Walmart overnight so long as you ask management before-hand and receive their permission. This is a great option when you only need to stay one night while passing through.

Exploring the City

A motorhome rental from Hudson is obviously a convenient way to explore the area, but you’d be missing out by not spending at least some of your trip exploring Hudson itself. This small town has a lot to offer, and it does so with a big heart and open, welcoming arms.

Historical buffs may enjoy checking out the State of Michigan Historical Marker in town, which marks a key bridge in town that was used by the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern Railway starting in the late 1870s. The railway that used this bridge handled millions of tons of coal and iron ore that helped fuel the nation’s industries. The bridge is still in use today and is made primarily out of sandstone that was brought to Hudson.

Another historical landmark in town is the William G. Thompson House Museum & Gardens, which were originally the home of Thompson and his family for a brief period. This Queen Anne style home is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and allows guests to explore the museum and home during hours of operation. After exploring the house, head south in town for a nice walk in Thompson Memorial Park.

Historic sites aside, an RV rental in Hudson can also be filled with tasty food. In town, there are many local cafes, pizza places, and sandwich shops that offer a Michigan twist on many classic favorites. There are also Chinese and American restaurants in town, and the numerous diners lining Main Street are also a great choice for a quick bite to eat. Main Street is also home to a few of the gas stations in town, which makes it easy to find both food and fuel at your leisure.
