Wye Mills is an unincorporated community in Queen Anne's County, Maryland, and it has had its share of the limelight on more than one occasion. The town is home to Wye Mill which was constructed in 1682 and has been in constant use since then (it is currently a museum as well as a functioning mill). Wye Mills has several buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, including a plantation mansion, Wye House, and St. Lukes Anglican Church (more commonly known as Old Wye Church) which was built in 1712. It is home to Chesapeake College, the first regional community college in Maryland. In October 1998, then-President Bill Clinton held a summit in Wye Mills (the Wye Accord) that included leaders from the Middle East.

Book an RV in Queen Anne's County, and you are ready to begin exploring this scenic and historic area with only your curiosity as your guide. There are other towns that are interesting and worth spending some time in. Easton is home to the Third Haven Meeting House, a Quaker meeting place and one of the oldest worship places in the state. Cambridge is where the food processing industry was developed and expanded in the late 19th century. Annapolis is where General George Washington resigned his commission as commander of the Continental Army following the American Civil War. Columbia was created and developed by James W. Rouse with the intention to eliminate racial, religious, and class segregation. Brandywine was a rural community unlike its neighbors Clinton and Waldorf (both bedroom communities) until the 21st century but is now becoming a growing destination for new commercial and residential properties. Your Wye Mills RV rental is how you will see and experience these areas and their culture.

Discover Wye Mills

The Great Outdoors

Wye Island NRMA (Natural Resources Management Area) has a two-fold purpose, first to provide safe habitat for wintering waterfowl and other wildlife, and second to stabilize the eroding shoreline of the Chesapeake Bay. Most of the park's area is managed by the Maryland Park Service to provide the habitat, public outdoor recreation, and agriculture opportunities. Fishing, boating, and wildlife viewing are allowed as well as hunting at specific times of the year and with some limits.

Tuckahoe State Park is a cultivated outdoor recreation area with many miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Boating, canoeing, and fishing are permitted on the lake, and there is a recycled tire playground for children, a disc golf course, picnicking areas, and much more. Campsites are also available. Park your Wye Mills camper rental nearby and you can take your catch of the day straight from water to fridge until it is time to prepare it.

Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park is a historical monument to a woman who was a vital participant in the effort to end slavery. The park's carefully restored environment depicts perfectly the situation under which she conducted her efforts. Visitors can explore the homestead on foot or browse through exhibits in the visitors center.

RV Parks

There are a number of RV parks and campgrounds in the area surrounding Wye Mills and many more farther out, but some of these may have mobile homes. Your Wye Mills RV rental is all that you will need to have a comfortable and relaxing RV vacation.

Bayshore Campgrounds is a cultivated RV park with water and electrical hookups, dump stations, and amazing sunsets. Guests staying in the park can enjoy the basketball and volleyball courts, a playground and boat ramp, and much more. Some sites may have tent camping.

Exploring The City

There is lots to see and do in Wye Mills, starting with a local Audubon Center that is open year-round and has miles of trails, exhibits, and much more. There are several wildlife refuges and premium outlets where shoppers can score some great deals. There is a memorial drawbridge nearby that is still operational, and a steam and gas association with outdoor exhibits of steam-driven antique vehicles. There are urban parks, an arboretum, and wineries for visitors to enjoy too. Don't forget to take your Wye Mills motorhome rental for a spin on the local highways while you can. RV vacations are more than an experience, they are a rite of passage.

When it's time for dinner, Wye Mills is the place to be. One seafood outlet has crabs fresh from the Wye River; grab a bag and head back to your Wye Mills luxury RV rental to whip up a dinner the way you know you like it. Those who would prefer to have someone else do the cooking should head for a local restaurant that has local music with a low enough volume to make it enjoyable for everyone (especially those trying to converse). Guests who are lucky enough to dine here should check out the oyster bar.
