Originally, Owings, Maryland was known as “Friendship.” It sat along the Chesapeake Beach Railway and where that railroad line intersected with Solomons Island Road, a station that was called “Owings” was established. The reason for the name change was to avoid confusion with the town of West Friendship, also in Maryland. This tribute was to a one-time member of the state legislature who was also a resident of this county, Harry P. Owings. When you search for an RV in Owings, you will be a short drive outside of Washington DC and very close to the waters of the Chesapeake Bay.

When you have the best RV rental in Owings and want to head out for a road trip, you may want to visit the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park near Cambridge. You may also wish to visit the National Mall in downtown Washington DC, which is where you will find the United States Capitol, the Lincoln Memorial, the White House, and many other world-renowned landmarks.
