This very small community is located on the Delmarva Peninsula that it shares with the neighboring state of Delaware. While the Eastern Seaboard is always thought of as rather urban, this region is actually quite rural. The nearest larger town is Easton, less than 10 miles to the west, while the Delaware state line is only about 15 miles to the east. The nearest big city is the Washington D.C. metro area, around 75 miles to the west.

There are theaters, museums, wineries, and antique shops, not to mention several art galleries, in the local area, just waiting to be explored. A finger of the Chesapeake Bay stretches up to around 25 miles west of town. This, along with numerous rivers, natural preserves, parks, and other natural sites, offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy outdoor adventures.
