This smaller town is located in the state's southern region. Augusta is the capital of Maine, and also happens to be one of the smallest in the US. The nearest larger cities are Bangor, around 75 miles to the northeast, and Portland, around 50 miles to the southwest. The Atlantic Ocean lies around 50 miles to the south of town.
