Located in the heart of Putnam County, Indiana is the city of Greencastle. The city was founded in 1821 by Ephraim Duke who named it after his hometown of Greencastle, Pennsylvania. While a somewhat quiet city, it made headlines in the 1930s after John Dillinger robbed a local bank.

Greencastle is now known for its many festivals and farmers markets that are offered during the spring and summer. Its climate is somewhat mild although it can get to be very humid during the summer and frigid during the winter.

The state capital, Indianapolis, is located less than an hour to the northeast. Other cities close include Bainbridge, within 15 minutes north, and Martinsville lies about an hour to the southeast.

This park was once a quarry and is filled with numerous trails to hike down, like the Quarry Trail, which is filled with limestone structures. RVers can also take their camper rental near Greencastle on a quick trip to Fishers to see Conner Prairie. This living history museum is situated on the William Conner estate, which was developed in 1823. The museum, which runs over 1,000 acres, is designed to help teach visitors about life in the 19th-century. Tour the area and walk inside the historic Conner home, visit an Indian camp, or explore a small historic town. This attraction also offers hot air balloon rides and small candlelight dinners which feature meals from this era. Keep in mind that if you want to attend one of these special events, reservations are usually needed in advance.

Located in Terre Haute, this museum was created by Holocaust survivor Eva Mozes Kor as a way to help tell others about the horrors of the Holocaust. Just a short drive away from Greencastle in Indianapolis is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Created in 1909, this structure hosts many important races, like the Indianapolis 500 and Brickyard 400. Catch a race at the speedway or stop by its museum which houses artifacts from various historic races held at the venue.
