Back in the early part of the 19th century, Bedford was originally a town by a different name, situated farther south than it is today. However, around 1825, its original location close to the White River was considered unhealthy because of a spread of malaria in the region. It was moved, and the name changed to Bedford at the behest of Joseph Rawlins, a local businessman who had relocated from Bedford County in Tennessee. This town was incorporated in 1864 and received its city charter in 1889. It was also a stop on the Underground Railroad, which helped slaves escape to freedom before the Civil War. When you book an RV in Bedford, you will be in the heart of the Midwest, surrounded by incredible beauty and rich history.

Not too far away, near French Lick, is Hoosier National Forest. When you rent an RV in this part of Indiana, you can travel wherever you want to go, even into Illinois to visit the Shawnee National Forest near Marion.
