Originally named Bullochville after the Bulloch family, Warm Springs is a peaceful and pleasant town in the state of Georgia. Its humble beginnings as a resort town in the 19th century greatly shaped the course of its development, as it has largely remained a tourist area in the modern day. A few hundred people call Warm Springs home full time, yet the population tends to swell when the summertime tourist season approaches. The main appeal to the village is its incredible geothermal springs for which it is now named. These springs are not only relaxing but are said to have holistic healing properties that can benefit the body in a variety of ways.

When you book an RV in Warm Springs, you’ll have lots to see and do aside from bathing in the soothing waters of the springs in town. Much can be learned about the local area through small history museums, or simply walking around town and taking notice of historic landmarks. There are vast forests and wonderful state parks close to town, and you can even take your Warm Springs RV rental for a trip to Atlanta or Macon, both of which are around an hour's drive away.

Exploring the City

Despite its small size, Warm Springs has a complicated and fascinating history. There are lots of historic buildings in the town like The Eleanor Roosevelt School, The Benjamin F. Bulloch House, The Oakland Plantation Inn, as well as the Warm Springs Historic District and the Old Bullochville section of town where the annual Watermelon Festival is held each year. Chief among the historic buildings, however, is the Little White House, built by Franklin Roosevelt himself. The late president had a slew of health problems later in life. He enjoyed using the local springs because he believed them to be therapeutic and healing, so he built his own home and presidential retreat in Warm Springs. The house would be the place he would spend his final days, and it now serves as a museum with lots of artifacts and treasures from the late president’s life, and the infamous unfinished portrait that was commissioned before he died.

The Historic Pools Museum was also made famous by Franklin Roosevelt, and it chronicles the history of the town as well as the warm springs. The empty mineral pools at the facility give an eerie feeling to visitors due to their abandoned state, helping remind others of the horrible Polio disease that drove many to seek alternative healing methods like mineral springs.

In the town, you will find a bevy of small businesses, like local diners, cafes, and wineries where you can sample regional wines. There is no nightlife to speak of, but Atlanta is close enough to visit if you want to see some big-city attractions.
