Pine Lake can be found on the outskirts of Atlanta, just beyond the I-285 loop that encircles Georgia’s capital. This creative community neighbors the spectacular Stone Mountain Park and is just thirty-minutes from Lawrenceville, giving it the perfect balance of both city conveniences and natural beauty.

Not established until 1935, Pine Lake was originally a secluded summer resort, hidden amongst the trees. Small plots of land were auctioned off, and on them were placed a number of tents, trailer, and cabins. Along with the lake, boat docks and bathhouses, this was all set to the be newest holiday resort for the workers of Atlanta. Eventually, this low-scale holiday resort developed into the town we know today, with a small, eclectic community full of creatives.

Although a suburb of Atlanta, many people book an RV in DeKalb County to experience its nature retreat ambiance. Consider an RV rental today and get out of the big city and into the fresh air!

Discover Pine Lake

The Great Outdoors

12-acre Pine Lake is the recreational heart of the community and the main reason why many choose to rent an RV here. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors here, whether you enjoy swimming, boating, or fishing, and all are possible on this scenic lake. Base yourself close to the beach area to enjoy a refreshing swim in the crisp waters during its seasonal opening months. Alternatively, launch your non-motorized boat onto the lake at the Beach House, to enjoy a tranquil day on the water. Whilst out there, cast your fishing rod and try your luck at catching one of the resident catfish or brim.

Camper rental in Pine Lake is also popular among hiking enthusiasts, with many trails starting from the lake itself. Take the paved-trail that loops around the circumference of the lake, past beautiful creeks and birch tree woods. From this path you can choose to take a detour onto the berm trail which allows walkers to get up, close and personal with the wildlife here; expect to see a number of fish, birds and even turtles sunning themselves on the rocks.

Just a short drive away is Stone Mountain Park, a must see for anyone that has chosen an RV rental near Pine Lake. This park stretches across 3,200 acres of stunning natural landscapes and includes a clever combination of outdoor activities and family fun. The main feature of the park is, of course, Stone Mountain, and it is well worth getting up early and experiencing the sunrise from the top! As well as 12-miles of trails and several golf courses, the park is home to the world’s largest Laser Show Spectacular. This is a unique and regular event, so make sure you check the schedule to see when it’s on!

RV Parks

Unfortunately, there are not any RV Parks in Pine Lake to set up camp for your Pine Lake motorhome rental. However, surrounded by incredible natural landscapes, there are a number of campgrounds just a short drive away.

In fact, some of the closest campgrounds can be found next to Stone Mountain Park. There are two to choose from within close proximity of the park. The Stone Mountain Park Campground is located within the grounds and has an abundance of amenities to offer campers. This extensive park has a selection of different areas to choose from depending on your camping preferences. All of the sites in the purple zone come ready with full hookups for your luxury RV rental from Pine Lake, as well as reliable WiFi and cable signal.

For a slightly more tranquil experience, still within close proximity to the park, consider staying at the Stone Mountain Heights RV Park. This family-run campground is open all year round and provides spacious sites for even the biggest of rigs! There is a pool on site, perfect for cooling down on those hot summer days, and plenty of friendly staff to give you a warm welcome!

Exploring the City

Pine Lake certainly is a creative community, and this artistic flair can be seen everywhere around town. Choose a travel trailer rental in Pine Lake during the annual Lake Fest to see this passionate flare for creativity at its best. This free festival runs every October and includes a number of musical performances, food stalls, and craft workshops. Don’t miss out on the much-loved sand sculpture competition or the colorful floatzilla parade! Organized by a group of local volunteers, this is an event worth supporting.

If you aren’t able to rent a motorhome from Pine Lake during Lake Fest, do not fret; the creative soul of the community is very much explored in the ‘Public Art’ project. This venture consists of a number of visual arts placed inaccessible places around town. These can be anything from paintings, sculptures, photographs, and mosaics to electronic art installations. Their locations have been chosen specifically to invoke a feeling of cultural diversity as well as promote the open-minded heritage of Pine Lake. Look out for these interesting pieces as you cruise around town.

If you would much rather a traditional museum within four walls, visit the Stone Mountain Museum before you explore the rest of the park. This small, but informative museum houses artifacts and information boards that give visitors an idea of how the land may have looked over 12,000 years ago. Learn about the Native Americans that originally settled here and how the carvings at the top of the mountain came to be!
